Purple stuff on my G-Shock - any thoughts?

Sorry about not posting for a while,

I have an obsession-like urge to keep my watches looking as new as possible for as much time as possible, as strong as ever after the purchase of my G-Shock DW-5600CC-2 not a full month ago.

Disaster struck today, when after work I noticed purple scratch-like marks on the blue resin band of my G-Shock. It still eludes me what these marks are and how to remove them. My first guess being pen ink, I tried removing them with my hand sanitizer (96% ethylene) and rubbing with an eraser, to no avail. Would try nail polish remover but I'm afraid it will damage the resin.

It's probably not the plastic underneath, because I have noticed rub marks appear on the band near the holes, and they're grey, not purple. But I could be wrong.

Are there any opinions on what these marks could be and how the could be removed from the watch? Really don't want these to be permanent :(

Your journey in watch collecting is fraught with danger if this is bothering you on a G-Shock.

Trying to fix it will just make it worse.

Let your watches live and enjoy them.

Yeah but people online somehow manage to keep their watches pristine while I'm out there scratching and dinging them up 😭

I have to adjust my wearing habits, I guess.....

I have plenty or watches that have signs of wear. Don't believe everything you see online.

Be you, don't be them. Makes for a  happier hobby.

And G-Shocks are built to be worn hard. To baby a G-Shock is to deny it of it's lone purpose.

I tend to baby everything I wear, and I don't like to see things get damaged in general. Maybe this is the wrong hobby for me xD

I wasn't ever going to put the G-Shock through its paces with anything extreme (I'm an extremely physically inactive person), I bought it just for the design and the peace of mind. Shame not much can be done. Such is life, I guess

I should be so lucky as to have problems such as an ink stain.

What do you mean?

I fully agree with @foghorn here. Your watches, when you wear them as intended, will get signs of wear and tear - its inevitable. And honestly, if we were to meet on the street and I'd notice your #casio has got scratches/cuts and blisters, it would be far more of a statement than as if it looks brand new (unless it is brand new, of course).

Regarding the violet marks though, I am no expert but it could be a chemical reaction or a result of getting in contact with something really hot.

But apart from all of that, enjoy wearing it!

The first scratch/ding/mark is always the hardest, be it cars, watches, sneakers or anything else.  :)

You could try one of those “magic erasers” but not sure I would recommend it.  Like @foghorn suggested, sometimes the “cure” is worse than the disease.

Now that your G-Shock got its first beauty mark, you can now wear it as God intended. When it gets beat up beyond recognition, replacement bezels and straps (both OEM and third-party) should be readily available.    You could also use that time as an excuse to mod it to make it truly your own. :)

I agree with the idea about the scratches. Kinda made me less anxious to wear the piece, so I guess there's my silver lining.
