SOTC - Parent's Edition

I wouldn't say my parents collect watches, but they do have a decent collection. While visiting this weekend, I had a chance to sneak some photos.

Mom

Mainly fashion watches, but a nice black dial Toy Watch Submariner homage (and a blue one I think she stole from me).

But then there's this great looking Movado (which turns out was stolen from my dad):

Dad

A great looking collection with a good range of watches:

The Timex Explorer needs some new lugs, and I'm going to get a strap and a new battery for that Seiko chronograph (with alarm function!). The Citizen with the flex link bracelet was my Grandpa's. And I always like a Shinola, but the crown jewel is the Datejust:

He received as an award it in the mid 90s when his sales department hit some crazy goal (though the actual story is a little more complicated because he originally received one with a fluted bezel). It's a little small, but man it feels good on the wrist!

Toy Watch! What a blast ftom the past! Often described as Swatch meets Rolex the Italian Designer Marco Mavilla created this one for Toy Watch around 2005.

I remember Toy Watch having a real moment of pop culture prominence, at least here in California. Their affordability made them accessible to those not wanting to drop a bundle on luxury goods while retaining some Italian designer cachet.

My wife enjoys this one when she is sporting all white for some carefree fun in the sun.

The bezel feels ridiculously good for such a low cost offering. That it still works almost 20 years later is a thumb in the eye to those that drone on and on about the fragility of low cost plastic watches.

Nice Toy Watch! It was definitely a thing I'm my neck of the woods too. Yours was well cared for.
