Thoughts? Franken Calatrava?

So recently I came across this PP and thought it was beautiful. It was offered to me with no box and papers.

As a watch enthusiast I do my research intensively or I think I do so. So here were my findings. The case the buckle is solid gold and has all the right markings when inspected under a loupe. But what bothers me is that it doesn't match any reference online. The only explanation that I have is that the case is a 5022 with a 3919 dial. And the breguet hands were also taken from the 5022.

Now it makes me wonder. Were there PP watches that were never in catalogs or references were lost in time? I feel not since watches this size with those reference numbers are usually less than 30 years old.

I really wish this was real and the watch was made this way originally.

Is there any way to authenticate it? Considering that PP doesn't give extract from the archives for watches that were made after 1989? Also the fact that the extract doesn't really mean that the watch is authentic.

What do you crunchers think?

Of course I didn't get it. 😜 yet...

What does the movement look like? Would not even consider it without verifying the that. Honestly, already too many red flags.

The Calatrava is one of the most knocked off watches and short of buying through a reputable dealer or sending off for authentication, I would not touch it.

As above. Just the one red flag on a trinity watch is reasonable grounds to walk away. Seller should be able to point you to the correct reference if it exists, and you should have photos of the innards for comparison.

That small seconds hand is way too long for the dial. Would Patek do that?

Not with a 10 foot pole.

Hit it with a hammer.

Ahhh yes. True it goes over. I really think the dial was swapped. :)

I am not to much of help in this department to be honest Dae. But what I would do if I was interested in a vintage watch but knew absolutely nothing about how to authenticate the piece would be to get an expert opinion to look at it and have the seller agree to have the Watch shipped to them for thre opinion. If they had an issue with this then it’s a no go.

Yeah thanks. They had no issue. I think they also had no idea. I didn't get this in the end. I will stand by my gut feel and theory. And some watchmakers agree too. I informed the seller and he was nice to thank me for this info. :)
