1978 1680 Authenticity check?

I'm considering purchasing this and was hoping that someone with a bit more experience might be able to comment if anything looks off (apparently the seconds hand was changed). Thanks in advance!

Nothing screams fake and it has all the right signs, but compare it to others and take it to a pro. If you have the opposite side of the movement picture, you can compare it to this one Hodinkee sold. My concern with a 1680 is any non-OEM parts.

Thanks I appreciate the input and sharing that one. I just get nervous with these older pieces after hearing horror stories and I figured more eyeballs would be helpful. Cheers!

There are smarter folks here that can weigh in as I fully admit to not being an expert, but I have a couple books at the house just for this reason when shopping.

Compared to pictures from chrono the date cut out looks odd as does the crown logo ,it's just not crisp , definitely worth getting checked out by a professional

Definitely bringing it to a professional to have it verified no matter how much trust you can have on someone.
