5 Reasons Why the Seiko Alpinist is Seiko's Best Watch

Every time the Alpinist works its way onto my wrist, I'm always impressed how good of a watch it is. Early on in my collecting journey, I've always aspired to own this piece and if I didn't fall too deep into this hobby, I would gladly have this as my only watch.

Are you a fan of the Seiko Alpinist?

I want one! haha. I agree somehow the unique design works and is very attractive to me. Was thinking of the new gmt version too, but so much more expensive and bigger case too.

·

I feel like I'm the only person that actively dislikes it. The compass bezel is useless; I like Arabic numerals and shark tooth indices, but pick one; the cathedral handset doesn't match the rest of the design for me.

·

Hard to argue with cathedral hands and a green sunburst dial.

Have had one for five years. Got to buy one before they got discontinued, so got it for a great piece. Great Watch, even though the movement has not been that great. I already had to service it. But otherwise one of my favorites and one that is never leaving my collection. And the MRS favorite.

Nice review. First time seeing an Alpinist on a NATO - kind of like it.

I like mine very much (SARB017) but it is a bit difficult to understand the hype. The compass bezel is too smooth, the bracelet was horrible (we all know this and take it for granted but well) and the watch itself is a bit "fat": short but still quite thick. It has a flair of vintage mountaineering accessory indeed that is appreciable. My opinion...

The alpinist has been on my radar for some time now.

Its a great versatile watch. Looks great on almost anything, I get that the green and gold/ useless compass are not everybodies cup of tea but IMO it all adds to the quirky charm of it. Its one that won't leave my collection
