So I’m thinking of going to the next step in my modding journey. I’ve never used a microscope before and am not sure how I will like it. With the cost for the professional one being as high as they are makes me a bit uneasy.
Now there are the cheaper ones for half or less in price that look better because you look at a screen rather then through the two lenses, but I don’t want to waist my money on something I’ll out grow in a short period of time.
So if your into modding and use either of these, let me know your thoughts so I can make an informed decision. Thanks everyone!

I have one of those too. Not happy with it trying to keep in one spot to stay in focus. It is better than some!
It would have to be a stereo microscope for me, too. However, for the work that we do we need s decent working distance, which eliminates a few inexpensive microscope.
My other issue is that I don't always look at a movement from the top, but also from the side or s 45 degree angle, which is better done with a loupe.
At this point I can't justify a scope, unless I seriously work on movements.

Yeah I thought the same thing about looking more from the side!
I've used similar to rigs like @ayadai and have never needed beyond the 8x lens. Unless you're building movements from scratch or maybe some sort of engraving, I think a microscope is overkill.

Thanks
I have a cheap microscope and never use it. I also have a similar loupe to what @ayadai recommended. I rarely use it, but it is good to have just in case. For the most part, I just use a magnifier light like this one. It's easy to switch view from the top to a side angle, and you don't have to use the magnifier if you don't need to. Not bad for around $20.
Nice, and thank you.
Wow that’s deep! If you have the know how and want to take it to another level why not. Yeah too bad they don’t have a market to rent a equipment like this. I would think is a fair use for the day.
It is what it is, right?
