Grand Seiko Iwate dial

Been a big fans of grand Seiko dial, and one of my favourite one is the Iwate dial pattern.

It look like the classic sunray dial, but it is much more grainy and it has a reflective lacquer applied to it. Making it look silverly or reflective black from afar, and very beautifully grainy when seem up close.

In my opinion, the black one look the best, it super subtle but the over all look and feel is super reflective. It has very different look in different light conditions. When it is slightly dim, the grainy look start to appear, and it look classy. When darker, it start to look reflective and together with the zaratsu finishing (black finishing) of the index and even the internal case, it look even more classy. GS is not joking when they said their inspiration come from light and shadow. The watch have different feel in different light conditions and it is a watch that you need to feel physically to love it.

The white is classy piece that I recently acquired, hopefully it will be a good companion to my black GS.

Never thought of it that way! Haha.

Is that a vintage GS? I see the GS at the bottom of the dial with Seiko at the top. They moved away from that layout a while ago, correct?

I love the dial.

It is not a vintage GS. GS dropped the Seiko label in 2017.

Usually reference number lower than 200 are the double signed one.

For example

SBGA011 is the double signed snow flake

Whilst SBGA211 is the current snowflake
