Great question! I started my journey about 25 years ago. Got a large bonus and had my 1st child on the way. Knew I wouldn’t get any nice watches for a while so i got a high end dress watch. An Omega DeVille in 18k gold.

It remains a great watch for formal occasions. Would I make that purchase again? No. Here’s why…

The DeVille is so nice, and, in 18k, somewhat fragile, it only gets worn on special and formal occasions. Not much wrist time. I should’ve gotten a versatile sport watch first- one that could be my daily driver.
