Tales from the Paddling Pool - Part Three and a Half

I reached the character limit on the first part of this post - https://www.watchcrunch.com/casiodean/posts/tales-from-the-paddling-pool-part-three-192079 - so here's the rest of it. ๐Ÿ˜œ

Image

After my burritos, I started taking pictures of my Addiesdive against other green things because it seemed appropriate to do so, and then went full Apocalypse Now by re-enacting the jungle scenes with my Steeldive Willard.

In fact, I may have done the Willard thing first, but it doesn't matter. I changed my watches over so many times yesterday that I lost track in the end.

Image

That lume would really give away your position to snipers in the real Vietnam conflicts, and today would also get you noticed as a tourist to be sold copious amounts of street food to. How things change for the better. Mmmmm, Pho...

Image

Yeah, it was time to touch grass, and get back to doing what I was supposed to be doing here. It was at this point that I wanted to wear a different Skmei because I'm fickle and a Pisces, which is also a very 1970s thing to say.

Image

I thought about mowing at one point using a traditional '70s push mower, and changed back to my signature Casio F-91W with a Skmei module inside, but decided against it in favour of metal detecting instead.

Image

Did I find anything? Yeah, just an old military button and lots of old nails, canslaw, and lumps of alloys melted in bonfires over the years.

Image

I now live with dirt under my nails constantly due to my new hobby, yes, a real hobby which isn't just about buying things, but I hate being dirty and too hot, so I went back to more photography of my watches.

Image

I do like the green, and it's nice that Addiesdive used so many variations of it all in one watch. Not much chance of the ceramic bezel matching the dial with this brand, but at least it's not as bad as their blue one.

Image

But photography is boring too, so It was only a matter of time before I was forced to succumb to the pleasures of the paddling pool once again. I really am that fickle.

Image

Another 15 minutes was enough. I can't even stretch out properly underwater with my snorkel on in my tiny little pool, and sitting on a hard lawn listening to the Joe Rogan podcast on my iPhone gets dull pretty damned quick too.

Image

I really miss my old paddling pool. I could hide properly in that to escape from my wife after she's got angry by having to navigate my watches left everywhere. I'll have to do something about that tomorrow, the pool that is, not my watches, or my wife.

Image

I spent the rest of the afternoon in my special chair just soaking up the rays of the sun, drinking more Red Stripe, and dodging wasps, but that's another story. I've got one of those foam sprays in a can now, and there was much insecticide after dark.

Image

Fortunately, that's the end of my "Tales from the Paddling Pool" for this year, which I'm sure is a relief to all of you, especially if you don't like lots of poorly framed iPhone pictures.

Image

Stay tuned for my new series of posts, "Tales from the Jungle" as I attempt to tame the garden which has got a bit out of control, while wearing various field watches to do so. Hopefully it will be more amusing. ๐Ÿ˜œ

Great post! And thereโ€™s me thinking it should be just one watch per day. Iโ€™ve been doing it all wrong! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I go through at least 4 or 5 watches a day. I have the attention span of a fly... or a wasp... something flying anyway. There were lots of wasps yesterday. I need cake.

Yep, working from home 100% I change watches on a whim. So satisfying.

What a great post by the legend that is @casiodean. I am green with envy at the paddling pool but perhaps not as green as that Addiesdive, that looks fab. The grass looking much improved which I put down to the constant rain rather than any horticultural skills. Throw into the mix a scooter, flamingo and a metal detector and the post is off the scale. Off for a sulk due to jealousy !

Great posts. I've enjoyed your Tales from the Poolside. The weather here in the UK is forecast to improve again over the next few days and will probably be too hot to tame the jungle, mow the lawn etc. Maybe you could refill the pool and dip your toes in for some more horological reflection.

Keep up the good work in making us laugh ๐Ÿ˜‚
