Mods, Casuals, and Moduals

If you were or are still one of the above, what watches have you worn or would wear to "up" (or "one up") your rivals? Adidas, Ben Sherman, Lambretta fashion watches, or even Emporio Armani and Hugo Boss perhaps?

I've often wondered about this since the fashion is sports based and not luxury brand based per se.

As a bit of a mod sometimes when I was a lot younger, I went full retro '60s myself, but I have a feeling that today's British "youf culture" would sadly be all about their Apple watches now.

I don't understand, one of what? Is this a UK reference?

Translation: Specific British Youth Culture groups which were identifiable by their clothes, haircuts, music choices etc. In the case of "Casuals", basically football hooligans and lager louts.

I wasn't any of them TBH, but I had friends who were mods and I think I owned a Ben Sherman shirt at one stage. What would I wear back then, no idea ! I was 20 in the mid 80's just at the start of the new romantic era but I didn't dress like one thankfully ! I did go a bit Miami Vice for a very short while but the amount of people trying to beat me up meant a change ! I would hope it would have been a Seiko 5 howether.

I went from Punk to Skin head to casual to old man all in about 5 years. Happy days. 🥺
