Leather strap on a diver. Sacrilegious?!

I know a lot of people feel it's sacrilegious to put a leather strap on a dive watch. Online I kept seeing lot of white dial black bezel rolex Daytonas with a leather strap and thought it looked beautiful. Decided to give that color combo a try on my Christopher Ward trident pro 300. I get the same look which I love. It's a dive watch and people may think it's wrong to leather up a diver. Curious on how other people feel.

How do you feel about leather straps on a diver? Sacrilegious? Who cares as long as the wearer likes it?

PS, if you don't own a Christopher Ward, I couldn't recommend anything more than getting one. Such an extreme quality to value ratio, that I don't see anywhere else in the horology world.

It's fine...divers are mostly used in desk diving anyways.

If you're not actually diving, why not?

Demanding a diver has to be on a waterproof strap at all times is just LARPing....

I bought a Baltic diver on a Beads of Rice bracelet. It’s nice but I think it looks nicer on leather. The bracelet seems to take attention away from the beautiful watch. I bought the diver because I love timing bezels; I don’t dive.

My motto is simple: I wear what I love and the view is perfect 🤙❤️

It's fine, as long as you change it when you went swimming. I'm also planning to put my Kamasu on a stingray strap, as a revenge for what they did to my homie Steve

To me it all depends on what dive watch you put the leather strap on, yours looks great but if I put a leather strap on my mm300 it just looks awful.

Diving, not diving... who cares, I like the leather look on any watch and if it's weathered, beaten and frayed... then even better. The stories and experiences of owning AND using a watch is why we do this... own it , embrace it.... wear whatever f#$@&&n strap, bracelet, piece of scrap that makes ya happy, BUT create a memory and hopefully get it dirty. The watches we buy are 1000% more capable than we allow them to be + its fun to clean and scrape them to their original state.

Looking good! I may have to look into getting a similar strap for my Trident Pro 300.

Hi Brandon, I think it's fine as long as you don't have regular impulses to jump into the local river or fountain whilst walking past.👍😉😃

·

It's a CW strap. Vintage oak. The camel one looks good on it too

Never worn leather, veggie since 1982- but if it makes you smile then go for it. Life's too short to worry!

·

I’ve done it twice now and happy with the look. Casual/elegant simultaneously.

Despite what some might think, collecting watches isn't a religion and there is no church of the leatherless diver's. Therefore - sacrilege is out of the question in this case.

You do what you want to do and if anyone objects you can always point out that it's a nice day and he is free to go out and fly a kit.

I’m not a huge fan either but since most of us don’t actually go diving or even get into a pool with our watches I think it’s totally fine 😌
