What to chose, two affordable watches or one expensive?

I'm starting my collection and facing something that I believe every other collector faced before. Buy more affordable watches or less of higher tier? At the moment I'm looking for a daily use watch and was pondering between Hamilton Khaki Field Expedition on black dial and Christopher Ward C65 Dune on sand dial, both on same price level. Doubt was so great that was about to buy both. Then I discovered the Nomos Club Neomatik 39 on gray dial and fell in love for it, but costs more that both previous watches together. What to do?

In the end you have to choose, what’s right for you. But I would choose the 2 watches just because they’re more my taste than the Nomos.

If you like the Nomos and it's good on wrist - I think Nomos is the better option - less is more..Unless you want more lol.

Totally go with the option that feels right to YOU. 😁

I think you've already made up your mind. If the Nomos is the real deal for you - go for it. Otherwise, I think that if you take the Hamilton and CW, the time will come when you start thinking about the Nomos again. At least that's how it was for me at first. But no matter what you decide, you can't go wrong with any of the 3 brands. :-)

If you're just starting, start with one rather than going for a full collection all at once.

And start at a low price because you might discover things you love or hate after a few months of wear. Especially when it comes to comfort but not necessarily. For example I discovered I can only wear watches with a flat back rather than the raised panel which is more common.

That cream one looks fantastic.

Having said that you can always sell later. But still it's easier to sell one rather than many.

Both situations are great picks. I think I might lean towards the Hammy and the CW. I LOVE Nomos, but I love the contrast in the pair, and both amazing companies to start your collection with! Good luck!

Buy the best you can afford is my advice.

·

I'm a sucker for nomos, so... but on a white dial, though. anyway, enyoy!

·

Usually I'd say go for the single higher quality option, but in this case I'm not a fan of NOMOS, just not my cup of tea so went for the two - but that's my taste. Best option is go for the NOMOS.

I would split the budget for one more sporty/casual watch and one more dressy/fancy watch. I like having a little variety to cover different settings or moods.

·

My pick would be the Nomos, BUT only buy it after you tried it on. I saw in your profile that you have a 16,5cm wrist. The infamous Nomos lugs really are super long, so they might protrude laterally over your wrist. The 37mm Club Sport neomatik in “polar“ (light blue dial) is also gorgeous though

for me always quality before quantity...just as with clothing and shoes.....now especially with watches it does not always mean that the more expensive one is also the better one.....but....often it is.

·

Hmmmm. 2 very different watch.

I say go for what you really want, more does not mean better. Do many of us is trying to trim our collection

Yes, same for me. Love Nomos and this is the first one other than white dial that I really liked.

Thanks everyone for the opinions. I think I will start slowly and buy the CW 65 Dune and a few nato straps, then I decide the next one. Discovered another amazing model, Oris Big Crown ProPilot (maybe a bit big for my wrist).

I think this is the joy of collecting. Discovering new models and looking for the perfect option that you will never find.
