Captain's Log, Day 11 of the #1WC: The Seiko GMT will be victorious

I've perused through today's postings of the Day 11 Sub-Challenge and there are some good contenders out there. We've got vintage pieces, unique pieces, predictable pieces and at the end of the day, that's cool. Y'all have some lovely pieces and it is very commendable that y'all put your piece up and you rep it to the fullest and state why it should win. Alas, it is all for naught. You see, my Seiko SSK001 GMT watch will be the true victor of this year's #1WC and this is because it is the PERFCET watch for the everyday man

• The price. At MSRP, it's not too shabby. At grey market price, you cannot beat it.

• This watch is the spiritual successor to the SKX007. Everyone loves that watch. It was at the top for a very long time and to this day, it still is for a lot of people. But with this piece having come out, it takes it's rightful place as being one of the best affordable pieces.

• It's also one of the best gateway pieces for a beginner. If someone wants a beautiful piece without breaking the bank, this is it. You get introduced to so many elements because of this one model. You learn about diver watches, you learn about GMT watches, you learn about watches in the same price range, you start off with a brand that has a deep and rich culture in the world of watches.

• This piece made head moves and created tidal waves. I can't even think of a GMT watch that was ever this affordable. Not only that, but this watch literally created a whole movement. Once this watch came out, there were LOADS AND LOADS OF MICRO BRANDS THAT FOLLOWED SUIT. It was amazing and so cool to see this wave of releases that followed the SSK's wake. Seiko made a load of people happy that day.

He's an explorer! He travels to many distant lands! Not only does he need to know what time it is with wherever he's at, but he also needs to be able to know what time it is back home.
