BB58 lightly used vs Pelagos 39 new

Which would you choose? I know you can get the 58 new for $3800 but for nearly a $1000 less you can get a really good condition model on a bracelet so that seems like the smarter way to buy a 58 right now.

For me, I prefer the reflections from the BB58 gilt. It gives the watch a classier dressy vibe that can work in dressy situations too. I think that makes the 58 more unique and versatile. I absolutely love the new Pelagos, it made me forget about my lust for a no date Sub. But overall, I prefer the 58 just a bit more for those reasons above and I can’t afford or justify owning both. The price on the used market for a 58 right now is crazy low too. I’m sure the Pelagos 39 will be available used for under $4k sometime next year but by that time, the 58 might be $2500. As a non bracelet on a diver guy, the titanium and modern design being the main differences aren’t worth the price jump right now.

I agree with brett. I own the 58 and have had it since it came out. Fantastic watch, pics do not do it justice. The gold trim on the hands and indices really make it look classy. I dig the new pelagos for sure, its simplicity, titanium, etc.. make it interesting. But If I could only have one, it would be 58. I have the 58 in blue as well.

I prefer the Pelagos, but $1500 is enough for another very cool watch.
