I finally found one!
I’m not sure exactly how long I’ve been looking for this one, but it’s definitely been off-and-on for close to 10 years.
The Tag Heuer Aquaracer “Hawaii” limited edition (WAY2119) has very little information about it available online and the ADs that I contacted couldn’t give me more information other than it was a limited edition of 300 and sold out over 10 years ago. I’m trying to get more information directly from Tag and am awaiting a response.
I originally saw one in the Tag boutique in King of Prussia probably about 10 years ago and it caught my eye (and stuck with me for a decade!). My wife and I honeymooned on Kauai so the Hawaiian islands hold special meaning for us. As it turned out, our sons love sea turtles so the particular model really strikes a chord for me.
How I came to own it is happenstance. I was watching an old episode of About Effing Time on YouTube (great podcast if you haven’t seen them before) and it was sponsored by Bezel. I had never heard of them so I looked them up (https://www.getbezel.com). They have a free concierge program…tell them what watch you are looking for and they’ll see if they can find it. I thought “this sounds like a no risk option, let’s give them a shot”. I submitted my request on 1/22, my concierge “Blake” got back to me within hours to ask a few more questions and to tell me that he was on the hunt. On 1/24 he messages me to tell me he’s found one. I was floored! A few more messages exchanged, a purchase was made (via their excellent app), and the watch was mine.
I’m super stoked and will be wearing this one for a while (be prepared for many wruw posts with it)

Hawaii is beautiful. We’ve been back a couple of times and are working on a plan to go again next year.
