I have the 36mm, since 2009, and the Explorer II 40mm, since 2011. 17cm (6.75inch) wrist. I must say I rarely wear the 36mm these days. It looks great on pictures and the ocasional glance, it should be the Goldilocks size, but it’s small when I look directly at the wrist, especially if 39/40mm is your sweat spot. When I wear it for a few days I get used to the size, and it’s a stunning watch, but it doesn’t have, I think, that wrist presence satisfaction a 40mm watch has. On the other hand, I tried the Explorer 39mm a few years ago and it felt chunky, perhaps because the dial is wide and has a slim bezel.
Congrats 👏👏👏 I know exactly what you mean. I have a few watches I don’t wear enough but that have a point in the collection. I try to keep it under 12 watches, not easy. Sell to buy, not necessarily for funds but to keep it streamlined. I also have a few higher end pieces I don’t wear and should sell but can’t, you know, sentimental value, for the kids one day 😜
That‘s the point. I made that mistake in the past and it is exactly as you describe. But I really like the Formex also, and it is versatile for straps, plus that incredible clasp. The Zenith, on the other hand, “feels“ like true horology on wrist.
I have a BB58 (black) and it is spot on for size and comfort. I tried the 41mm and, although the all-black look is “stealthier” on wrist the long lug-to-lug unbalances it, I needed an extra centimeter wrist.
