William Wood Charity firefighter travel watch.
Good afternoon watch friends! 🙏
Not sure how many of you know about my little project with @williamwoodwatches I received a Ruby Bronze watch from them in September last year, with the idea of sending the watch to serving firefighters around the UK and once the journey was over I’d return it to Jonny and the team to auction off for The Firefighters charity. So far, the watch has been to 5 different firefighters with another 8/9 on the list, the Yorkshire region, a few trips in London and next heading to the North and Newcastle Tyne and Wear, this is a very important place for the watch to visit as it was where Jonny the owners grandfather worked as a firefighter.

WHO WAS WILLIAM WOOD?
William Wood was the name of our Founder's late grandfather. He served in the British Fire Service for over 25 years winning commendations for his acts of bravery. He was stationed at Pilgrim Street for the Newcastle & Gateshead Fire Brigade on the Blue Watch. He passed away in 2009 but his legacy lives on in our watches.
A REAL HERO
My grandfather was without doubt a hero and incredible man. On 29th June 1966 he and 3 fellow firefighters saved 5 small children aged between 5 and 1 from a severe house fire. They were all awarded with a Certificate of Merit for their courage and bravery which was the first Certificate to ever be awarded in the history of the Newcastle & Gateshead Fire Brigade.
A ROLE MODEL
Our Founder Jonny looked up to his grandfather as a charismatic, loving and strong character. He knew that building his lifelong career around him would get him out of bed every morning ready to take on the world. Each watch we make has his grandfather's legacy beating through each component and is a tribute to all firefighters past or present who are our everyday heroes.

It is fantastic to hear some of the backstory to William, I bet you could have written pages and pages. The photos are fantastic and the cause even more inspiring. When it eventually goes for auction I will be cheering the highest price on. Thanks for the updates Ben. 👍

I’ll probably do a full article when it’s done and dusted, I’m hoping to hand it back personally to Jonny as we are in London that weekend I can hand it back 👍🏼

This is really interesting and amazing. I worked many years as a career EMS provider and volunteer firefighter here in the US. I have family who are career firefighters as well. I might need to look into this to add one to the collection. I really like the idea of circulating it from firefighter to firefighter to auction off.

Thank you, they are amazing watches I particularly like the Fuel edition, I’m hoping to do another one next year and possibly send it over to America. I’ll need to speak to William Wood about it 👍🏼
