Begginings of a Collection

Hey all, so pretty new here. Have always enjoyed watches, but felt like I haven't really gotten into them until this year. I currently only have 4 watches, with 3 of them being Fossil watches. From left to right, they are a Fossil Flynn Automatic, Fossil Commuter Hybrid, Fossil Blue AM-3769 (first watch, needs repairs, 20 years old), and a generic Target watch I use as my everyday.

I would love to build my collection with more watches and more variety, but as I look around, a lot of brands I come across are either way too far out of my price range, or those that are, I am uncertain of. Fossil tends to fall within my price range as I live close to their outlet stores. Any recomendations for brands to look at for sub $150? Thanks!

Take a look at Seiko 5, Orient, Casio/G-Shock, just to name a few. A lot of really nice watches with horological significance and history in your price range.

I have looked at the Seikos, and there is at least one or two thart I would like to get eventually. Not looked into Orient at all yet, will look them up. Thanks.

Orient is definitely worth a look.

For field watch vibes, check out Bertucci. Great US microbrand. Make fantastic, hardy, field watches in your budget, some are a lil bit over.

Don't be afraid to use Google, find a style you like, then Google alternative to X. Then use eBay.

You’ve got some good recommendations here. I’d also throw Timex into the mix.

I would say take a look at Seagull. If you like chronographs, at around 200$, they are the only mecanical chrono under 1500$. It's a brand established in China and it's actually a pretty good watch for the price. Just be aware there are many fakes(yes, chinese make copies of their own products, it's really wierd).

Seagull are mainly known for their model 1962 chronographs, but they also make moonphases that are worth to take a look.

Thanks. The Fossil Blue was the first real watch I got 20 years ago. Need to get it working again just for sentimental value if nothing else.

really like the design of Fossil Blue AM-3769. Its very rare these days. Can you send me this one when you quit using it? I wish I have it.
