Vintage Seiko 11-3399 hand-wind

This is an interesting piece I got to see today. My aunt knows I’m into watches so she asked if I could help install a new crown on one of hers. I was not expecting her to pull out this vintage Seiko haha. She got it back in the 60’s or 70’s and it’s definitely had lots of wrist time over the years.

looking forward to opening the caseback up to check out the movement!

I’ll be honest, that’s not a watch I would have been interested in a few months ago, but these days it’s looking good to me. The more time I spend looking at watches, the more I appreciate differnte styles, and this little gold, integrated style is working for me these days.

Nice Golden beauty! I asked a fellow Cruncher about a Seiko just recently and here's some info he shared. I thought it might be useful if you didn't already know

With Seiko serial numbers the first digit is the year, the second digit is the month. You need to know the decade.

The lightning bolt on the dial indicates it was made in the Daini factory, the same factory that made the original King Seiko watches. Info & photo credit @SurferJohn

Did not know that about the lightning bolt ⚡️ That’s really interesting! Thank you for sharing that 🙏🏽

Curious if the oddly tall case proportions are a practical or stylistic consideration.

The lovely parquet/basketweave texture looks to be in good condition. There's no buffing that out.
