Discontinued alpinist availability
Sooo... i think i fell in love with this Seiko alpinist SPB117.
I like the alpinist history and this is by far my favourite one, i love the no numerals shark tooth markers and the black and silver color scheme with the high polish bezel. Just looks class.
I think its been discontinued or was a limited edition ... of course it was.
I think MSRP was around 800 and i can find it on chrono24 for around 700€
There are some brand new for around that price.
Do any of you guys have some experience with discontinued seikos in particular, do they tend to get more expensive over time?
Should i pull the trigger now?

Didn't know it'd been discontinued, that's a shame. Its a gorgeous piece 😍👍🏻
I also didn’t realize it is being discontinued at least not here in the US! Its a great watch though I love it.
My beloved Baby Alpinists seem to have been discontinued as well. 😭 Oh well, they weren't that good to justify my expenses and I still probably can find one from JDM, which seems to be the case for the Mini Turtle as well (💀2019). Try Sakura Watches.
I'm a big seiko fan and part of a few seiko groups, i don't beleive it has been discontinued and it wasn't limited edition either it is a re-edition of a very popular model nicknamed 'red alpinist'
It's most likely just sold out locally
It is in stock at sakura watches, and gnomon and on sale!

Wow thanks for that Blog post on the alpinist history ... now i want it even more hahah...thanks for the Tipp, it seems like its just not avalible in germany anymore. Yet the sakura shop lists it as a limited model as well🤷♂️ The japanese model number alsp helps a lot! I might just have to get it for Christmas! Nice alpinist you got there love the texture on the dial! Thanks for your alpinist expertise 👍
