I think it looks equally good on a men’s wrist too. Timeless & elegant.

Yes I did.

Bought a 2319 reference Santos Cartier with a Guilloche dial. Beautiful 29mm watch in flawless condition.

I truly appreciate your thoughts and takes on this, Tom - especially coming from a guy who owns both (I aspire to when the budget permits)!

Same as you, I have a strong liking for the Tank XL (guilloche dial and automatic movement) but my gripe has always been the size. You are blessed with a big-boi wrist, hence it looks really good on you!

Congratulations on your recent purchase and may you enjoy and cherish that piece forever!

As for myself, I am leaning towards the Tank Large and should be able to make a purchase decision very soon thanks to you and all of those who commented.

Thanks, DixonSteele for your take on this.

My wife is an architect so I am sure that she sees things a bit differently than we peasants.

Right now, I am leaning heavier on the Tank Large after reading through all of the comments, and am sure that the missus will slap them on anyway whenever I am not wearing it 😂

I agree with your takes on the Tank Américaine, I felt like it is quite underrated for such an elegant and classy piece.

I tend to get why people are complaining about the XL being too big, it is just most cannot afford two Tanks 😂

The XL appeals a lot to me due to the guilloche dial and automatic movement, but I do wish it is a tad bit smaller so that I could actually pull it off - here is how the XL looks on my wrist.

May I know what's your wrist size? The Tank XL looks amazing on you.

Thanks Nabeel.

Definitely leaning on the Tank now after seeing the kind comments here!

Wow, your dilemma is almost the same as mine, albeit my AD is only 30 minutes away.

  1. The dial/bezel variants on the Santos Large appeal to me a lot (as I may have found that the white dial is a bit too formal-y.
  2.  My gripe with Tank Large is due to its quartz movement (i prefer mechanical) and the absence of a guilloche dial as the bigger brother XL has.

Tried on these 3 stunning pieces, and I just swoon over the blue dial variant.

Thanks for your takes, Tempus!
