My Dad’s Fake Rolex

I’ve debated on whether or not to make a post about this for a couple months now.

When last visiting my parents over the holidays, I found this watch in a drawer and had a mini heart attack. “Why the hell is

this Rolex just shoved in a drawer in a ziplock bag??”

After inspecting it, I thought “surely this can’t be real.”

Come to find out I was right. This bad boys got a pop-on case back and runs on a Seiko quartz movement. Now I’m not sure if I should wear it, destroy it, or keep it in my watch box as a conversation piece.

Thoughts?

Keep it, it has a nice story behind it. It is a memory of your parents

If your dad wore it, keep it. As stated, I am sure there are stories tied to it.

·

Ask your dad about it. If no special connection for him or you, throw it away.

·

Keep it. Don’t destroy it.

A fake is a fake is a fake. A fake as bad as that fake is the worst fake.

Sorry, but some back stories are best forgotten so I won't say like I usually do and tell you to hit it with a hammer. Rather I suggest that you put it back in the ziploc and shove it back in the drawer and forget about it.

@foghorn you’re right that it’s a pretty bad fake. Especially since it says “Day-Date” on a Datejust dial 😂

There’s not much sentimental value to it either so it might find its way to the bin at some point. I just thought I’d share an interesting find.
