Seiko - Regulation
Hello all, I have several Seiko’s and most are accurate. However, my Seiko Samurai 4R movement run in excess of 30 seconds slow. Has anyone sent their watch to Seiko to regulate? Typically, how much does it cost? Any feedback is appreciated..

As far as I know Seiko offers this as part of a service. 40 seconds slow is just above the unregulated specs for the movement.
I'm not sure if regulation is a stand-alone service offered by Seiko. I personally haven't seen it, but maybe I'm wrong.
I personally regulate the movements myself.
Cheaper to buy a timegrapher and do it yourself. You can then regulate your other watches too.

I do have a time grapher and have been thinking of that. However, since it’s a dive watch I don’t want to compromise the seal. That’s my biggest concern.

Do you replace seal after you open the watch. I know I can regulate the watch I just don’t want to cause issues with water compromising the watch.

If the seal is old, but in most cases you can simply clean and lube it. They make handy little cans with silicon grease for that.
While regulating a watch is not complicated, it requires a steady hand. If you damage the balance, it might be cheaper to buy a new movement.
Regulate it yourself since you have a timegrapger. Like @hbein2022 said, you can get gasket grease and re-apply the lube before you install the case back. You won't compromise any seals since you are only dealing with case back, nothing to take apart for the sake of regulating. Easy job to do it yourself.
