It's time to say Goodbye to my wedding watch

There was a time I enjoy wearing white dial watch. With the GS shape alike case and dressy look, I bought this Sharp Edge, SPB165, and wore it on my wedding day.

Since then I rarely wear the watch. Maybe because of my small wrist and dial texture, it does not really speak to me. I spend most of my wrist time and focus to my beater watch, Orient Kamasu.

Until few days ago, I realized I need to exit this watch to find a spot for a new one. I consulted with my wife about selling this important piece. With a few try, I got this .. Baby Alpinist, which I lust for 😁😁

So thank you Sharp Edge for the past 2 years and be a part of my important memory.

Both looks awesome , do you still have the white face for sale ? 😉

·

Sad to say goodbye to a piece with so much personal history but congratulations on the new watch 🎊

·

Congrats for the decision to move on from your wedding watch. Everyone’s different and there’s no one right answer. The Baby Alpinist is a great watch to move onto.

thank you man. it really was hard decision to choose, but I truly do not have it in my collection in the far future.

·

Yeah, fortunnately I have my wife who wants to support me 100%. And the watch fits perfectly too 😁😁

·

I second the comments of @SpecKTator. Glad to see that you and your wife are both happy with your decision. That's the weightier matter. ;)

Just try not to sell your wife from your wedding to make room for a new one🫣😏😂

that would be suicidal 😅😅

·

I would never sell my wedding watch. Like never ever ever

·

Think long and hard before you do this! I hope you make the right decision 🙏

·

Please use your experience to ward others away from large watches and textured dials.

My husband bought the Alpinist recently. It is such a nice watch. So nice, that I have borrowed it on many occasions. 🤣🤣🤣

haha such a lovely situation you got there.

It takes more than emotional attachment alone to curate a relevant collection for yourself. I applaud your clarity!

agree with you 100%. fortunately my wife also understand and agree with the decision of having one wearing occassionally than one in the box 😁

It's just a watch; has no impact on what made your special day special. Great choice👌

yeah, now our top priority is taking care of our twin boys who will be 9months very soon 🧒🧑🐵🐵

·

I love the Baby Alpinist.

Good on you - if you're not wearing it and can free up cash for a watch you want go for it. It served you well, now it's time to move forward with your new acquisition.

thanks man. now I truly enjoy every watches in my collection

Everyone is different. You're more like me in this respect. Pretty much every material object is just that... an object. That's all it is, at the end of the day. I can look at something and think, "Hey, we had some good times together... now it's time to move on..." and just leave it all behind. Some people here obviously can't - and that's fine, too. Except for the bit where they tell you that you should be like them. You're not like them. You be you.

thanks for the supportive comments bro, truly appreciated it. as you describe it nicely, I put more sentimental feeling towards everyday actions to my wife and our 9months twin boys. 🧒🧑🐵🐵

I hope your story doesn't become like the other thread about watch regrets! Selling watch memories for short term reasons have been one of the common regrets. Both watches look good, but it's your taste and lifestyle. Wear the alpinist well.

·

I tried a Seiko presage with a textured dial myself and found that the novelty of the textured dial wore off quickly. Lesson learned. Sell it and move on.

"There was a time I enjoy wearing white dial watch."

opposite with me, once I dislike white dial watch. now as grew older, taste change. Now I like with dial, small diameter, quartz? no problem.

I have a Citizen NY-0040 that I wore to my sister's wedding few years ago, that was when I like bigger watch, black / dark dial theme.

it's as reminder how I took one final responsibility, to marry my younger sister to a man of her choice because my father passed away few years before.

I prized that one watch as my grail, although I rarely wear it recently. I hope I'll never come to a situation that force me to let it go.

Totally agree with you. I think I would hold on to the watch if the dial does not have texture there

if the watch is embbed with your memory then better keep it. you can't find any watch like that watch again

I still have my wedding watch. I do think I would get rid of it. It doesn’t have any value. So there’s no point to sell it
