JS Watch Co. Sif NART 1948: My Iceland Story watch

Walked into this small watch in Rekyavik, Iceland this past summer. The maker himself greeted me and my family. Told me about how the North Atlantic Rescue Team (Iceland Coast Guard) uses this model as their official watch. 1000 meters in depth, 40mm, and super robust…but beautiful….tells the tale of Iceland…enchanting, wonderful place…this watch will forever take me back.

Super cool. Great find. I love the strap too.

No.  Freakin.  Way.

The wife and I are headed to Iceland in a few weeks and she's already emailed these guys about us stopping by.  I've been reading up on them and am looking forward to checking out what they have.  Unfortunately, there don't seem to be many actual reviews of their watches (hint, hint) mostly just stories about the business and watchmaker (as @roberto was kind enough to post.

Truly gorgeous and a strap monster too, congratulations on a wonderful timepiece.

This is super, super cool. If I remember correctly, JS Watch Co. has a number of famous celebs that wear their watches too.

1000m WR at 40mm? Hot damn.

That's a nice watch! Do you know what movement they use?

I checked their web page and all I could find about the movement is "Swiss Made Mechanical movement Execution Top".

Yeah, asked the same thing when I was there. It is a SPROD M100 (i think)… It has about 42 hour reserve, so it’s not that powerful workhorse, however, as Gilbert said “ that is enough for it to run when taken off, and lets you handle an enjoy when you don’t” LOL.

I agree. Crazy depth. It is thick. I was curious on the size, but this 40mm was requested by the Coast Guard for wearability.

This is similar to the Muehle Glashuette SAR Rescue-Timer watch for the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service, built to meet a similar specfic demand.

Random side note: in 2 of my BanG Dream!, Love Live! and South Park crossover fanfics, the guitarist for Roselia, Sayo Hikawa owns the lumed dial Lumen variant of the SAR Rescue-Timer. (link to those two fanfics here:

Also, if I were ever to have Ai Miyashita mentioned in any future fanfic, she will have the orange hands stainless steel variant of the Sif North Atlantic Rescue Timer for the Icelandic Coast Guard, though the watch is close to my 3000 US dollars price limit for the characters' watches in my fanfic by 280 US dollars (As a Love Live! fan, I knew Sif as the acronym for School Idol Festival, though the name is from a Aérospatiale SA 365 Dauphin 2 helicopter (now called the Eurocopter AS365 Dauphin) used by the Icelandic Coast Guard from 1985 to 2007 that has saved the lives of 250 people and took part in several high profile rescue missions around Iceland during its 22-year career, which itself is named after Sif, the golden-haired goddess from Norse mythology)
