Tissot Seastar 2000 Review and Bezel Failure

I watched a number of you tube reviews before making a decision to buy a Tissot Seastar 2000 Professional in July 2023... I tried the watch at the AD and it felt and looked great... I had only had the watch for 14 days when the Bezel click action failed and the click was non existent. The bezel was so loose that I could spin it in both directions with one finger... I returned the watch to my AD who said that it was unusual and kindly replaced it with a brand new one... I was enjoying wearing my Seastar 2000 again when less than 4 weeks in I had exactly the same problem happen again... I returned the watch to my AD for a full refund and was really disappointed because I really liked the watch... It seems like Tissot are using a very weak click spring on this watch with a low grade metal bezel... Otherwise the watch seems fine.... I have written to Tissot regarding this matter and await their reply... The official video ad for this watch portrays it as being super strong whilst it breaks through rocks... I am very disappointed and miss the watch despite the issue..If the bezel had been okay I would have had no hesitation in recommending this watch... But this I cannot do after having the same problem on two watches all in the space of six weeks. Tissot definitely need to address this issue on their flagship dive watch which is iso certified that should last for years of dive activities and general wear that may include other sports... The bezel needs to be a quality and robust part of any divers watch... Even those who don't dive will be prone to regular turning of the bezel as this is a natural habit when a bezel is present on a watch... The rest of the watch including the movement seems to be appropriate for the job.

Honestly this isn't just a tissot issue. So many brands put zero thought into the bezel. It's honestly insane that my Pro diver has better bezel action than some omega seamasters. On a dive watch, I care about 3 things equally. Dial, case, and bezel.

There was a post few months ago about the Seastar 2000 bezel having issue and someone tried to sort it out themselves only ending up to find the bezel material to be different to the case, not being stainless steel.

Wow, in general, I think of Tissot as good quality for the money. Thanks for this unfortunate but useful info. Bezels need to click not spin!

I have the chrono version of the Seastar 1,000. The bezel is very tight with no wiggle at all. No problems. You must have gotten into a bad batch from the dealer.

That is a possibility but at the same time very unlikely as the replacement watch came from a different location to the original one. I have since read other comments and posts where people have had issues with the bezel on the 2000...and many of the you tube reviews do mention that the resistance on the 2000 bezel click spring is very weak.. As for other models such as the 1000..I have tried the bezel on them and they do feel tighter than the ones on the 2000.

That is such a shame, I have had the exact same model for two years now and have had no issues at all, I had no idea there had been any issues with the bezel. I find mine is accurate to about 1 second a day, easily as accurate as my chronometer certified co-axial Seamaster I used to own. And that face is amazing in the daylight.

Don't get me wrong... I really do love that watch... But two bezel failures on two brand new watches within the space of a month or so is enough to make one wary of going for it a third time... I am sure that anyone would feel the same if it happened to them.. no matter how much they love the watch.

I have had a couple of Glycine airman's and only one (a murdered out one that I loved but couldn't read- it was so dark) had a GMT hand that wouldn't align properly, I wouldn't trust buying another one, so I appreciate where you're coming from.

I got the same watch and the same issue. Got the watch a couple months back and noticed right away after only a week that the bezel action changed. The "firm" quality "move" and click was gone and the bezel could be moved easily and with a much smaller click. Then yesterday it failed all together and I could spin the bezel both directions just by looking at it... Going back to dealer today and hope they sort it out.

I am so disappointed with Tissot...

The Bezel metal seems to be of a cheap material... Also the click spring seems to struggle to maintain a strong click action. I was lucky that it happened to mine within two weeks and then again within two week on the replacement. This ensured a full refund.... If they used a higher quality bezel with the appropriate click spring material , it would be a great watch.

Just got my 2000 back after Bezel Spring failure. I am a FD rescue/recovery diver and wear an analog as a backup. Nine months and 10 ish dives in and the bezel failed. Bought to replace my 35 year old Heuer. Love the weight and structure of this watch but the bezel actually failed on a dive after being lightly hung up on my surface supply line. I agree with earlier comments and hope the issue has been corrected with the new bezel. It was repaired under warranty and Tissot was awesome with customer service and response time. Time will tell.

I have one of these (ref. #T120.607.11.041.01) and, while it's my favourite watch that I own, it has been a bit of a nightmare when it comes to reliability. The crown de-threaded itself twice (the second time I brought it in, they even replaced the movement which I wasn't expecting) and now the bezel has become so loose that I can rock it up and down with my fingers. It also jams once in a blue moon.

The AD I bought it from tried to tell me that this is normal, as if I've never owned a dive watch before. My Invicta Grand Diver (#3049) is twelve years old and has never had ANY of these problems (in fact, it has never had any problems whatsoever and still looks and runs like new). I'll never go back there because I hate liars who try to insult my intellignce. My 2-year warranty expires next month so I'm going directly to Swatch in Toronto to have it fixed before something worse happens.

I'm going to point out to them that this is the THIRD time in less than two years that I've had to come to them. I've come to the conclusion that my watch may be a lemon because everyone else I know (save for here) who has this watch swears by its reliability and durability so I know that experiences like mine and yours aren't typical. If our experiences were typical, Tissot would've pulled the TSS2000 from the market to avoid staining their reputation. After all, in watches, reputation is EVERYTHING. So, I'm going to point out how much they've already spent fixing this thing and just ask them to replace it. If they decline, that's their problem because they warranty their work for two years each time they work on it. Hell, maybe I'll get an upgraded model with a lumed bezel (I won't hold my breath though).

I was thinking of low-key trolling them by walking in wearing my Bulova Lunar Pilot (you know, since Swatch is Omega too). If I REALLY wanted to troll them, I'd wear my Pagani PD-1701 Speedy clomage. 😜
