The one that got away

What are other people's 'one that got away' watches, this is mine. At the time when it came out I was new to watch collecting, so I thought I would grab one used and save a bit of money. Turns out that's not how it goes with limited edition Zelos watches and now I'm hunting for an alternative to fill the gap it has left (unless someone wants a Tribus TRI-04 as a trade)

I don't do pre order because it involves waiting so I've missed out on a lot of watches over the years. But there's always another watch waiting to catch my attention so I don't let it bother me.

Yeah, missed out on a Tudor North Flag... I had the money, tried it on at the AD but decided to get my Seamaster 300 instead.

No regrets, I love my Omega.

Seeing how the Tudor was discontinued and prices are soaring it's highly unlikely that I'll ever have one now. A shame, by far the nicest Tudors imho....😞

Where do I start! I've always been into watches but never gave myself the chance to dive head on into the hobby before. I've always thought that watches were too expensive. YouTube watch reviewers weren't as prominent back then and information (for people not in the hobby) was sparse. So I missed out on the SKX, many glorious Omegas and definitely a few Rolex models that were within my range that are now ludicrously expensive. So yeah, do I kick myself for not getting those back then? Absolutely. What can I do now? Nothing. There's no way I'll pay $700+ for an SKX. So I will do without.

The North Flag is my favourite Tudor too

The black PVD Dan Henry 1972. I debated back and forth about buying it, but I took just a bit too long, and it’s been sold out ever since.

I had missed out on the original drop of the Zelos Spearfish with the burnt orange dial. I had made the decision that I wouldn't wear it enough to justify buying one, but then kicked myself every time I saw a photo of that version posted online. I was very pleasantly surprised when I happened to notice a rare Zelos restock of 3 pieces in November of last year, and jumped on the opportunity. I had to pay the full list price instead of the reduced launch price, but was happy to do so to get the watch. It's even better in person than in photos. I don't wear it very often, as I had expected, but I still love having it in my collection for those days where it just feels like the perfect watch for the day.

A friend of mine has that linen dial model, and it's gorgeous as well. Hope you're able to eventually get one.

To be honest, for the amount I would actually get to wear a dress watch, it's probably a bit much to spend. There are a few similar watches on AliX that are much less expensive and scratch the itch
