Gent not Glitz

Any other ladies out there agree that men's watches are designed better? I am increasingly finding myself seeking out men's watches rather than ladies as they are less bling and more functional.  Nicer straps too. Maybe I am a little quirky 😃🤣

Sorry, but I disagree. My wife as my witness, but in many situations I've found that ladies have much more variety and choice in their lines than men do. From watches to boots to jewelry to merch... I usually find way more cool options for women than the standard and played out options for men.

My wife and I literally just had this conversation. She much prefers men's watches, she doesn't want jewellery with a watch face added.

·

My wife preferred the 42mm date just. More legible.

I would tend to agree. I mean just look at the Omega collection for women vs mens.

Lots more bling (diamond set etc.) - almost to the point that it’s hard to find much without.

There is an increasing trend of women wearing larger watch sizes (and men wearing smaller as it happens) - which gives access to ‘Men’s watches’. My daughter wears a 39mm men’s watch and it works really well.

Mostly I find that it’s the designs and colours - mainly being softer/pastel colours than men’s - it kind of takes down the options and I think it’s great that women are trying larger sizes and rocking them.

I’m not sure I agree. I often look at ladies versions when exploring new watches - simply because they are smaller and more fitting to my tiny wrist. Yes, some are blingy, but so are some men’s…

It's all down to personal taste I prefer a larger watch on my slim wrist.  Just finding that for the size of watch I like men's seem to suit my taste better.  I am a bit of an odd ball 🙃

I think it can be seen both ways. I don't mind a bit of bling and colour, and if I'm just looking for jewelry then I like the added choices. But if I'm looking at the nicer watches, it's mostly a matter of "shrink it and bedazzle it."

And if you're looking for attractive design, you will often find a lot of lovely options in the fashion watches. Since most women just want a quartz movement in an attractive package, fashion watches designed by a discerning eye make sense.

Also, if you're looking at "real watches" you'll have a harder time finding mechanical options in the ladies selection.

My wife wear the 40mm yacht master TT she much prefers larger watches even though she's only 5ft 1 ,the lugs do extend a little but she's wears it tight so it doesn't move ,her next purchase is the OP 41mm

Important is what works for you!

One of the truest things I e read here. Womens watches always have to have diamonds all over them. I guess there’s an old-school assumption that men want capable tools that look nice, and women want pretty, sparkly things.

I like pretty, capable tools that sparkle

I would half agree…we are seeing watch sizes start to shrink to be more unisex sizes creating a broader offering to both genders.  Where I do agree is women’s watches usually have the bling that do not translate across all customers.

Don’t we all. Like many things in this world, it’s going to be up to women to convince the watch world they want different watches, or else men will keep making the same ones for you. The upside is that there are more and more 36mm watches out there.

Funny thing, one of my favorite watches I’ll never buy is this “women’s” watch…

LoL that's the exact watch I would buy if I had the money 💰

Fully agree. Whenever my girlfriend and I look for a watch for her she gravitates to men’s styles. She doesn’t want all the jewels or gold she wants a nice looking tool watch in the 36-38 mm range.

·

Woman here who only buys/wears (not through a pre decided requirement but just ends up the case) "men's" watches- watches made for/marketed towards women still seem to be either "shrink it and pink it" or the quartz version of the men's design, neither of which work well for me personally.

Yeah, and at that price there are so many other options.

·

I like that we have the option to wear pretty much all of them!

Sometimes I like tiny sparkling pieces.

Sometimes I like oversized sporty ones.

And sometimes I like something in between.

I have to say though, wearing oversized watches gets uncomfortable for me after a few hours so now I’m really paying attention to fit when I try on watches.

P.S. I tried that Breitling Chronomat 36 last week and it’s gorgeous!

Yes. My girlfriend easily borrows and ultimately steals some of my watches. And I constantly set up her dead automatic watches before she goes to work…..daily❣️
