Black bay pro after the hype

Hey fellow watch nerds!

I just wondered if anyone could share their experiences with the Tudor black bay pro. It seemed like the perfect tool watch when it was first released, but I was very aware that most new releases have a glow that eventually fades.

I was just hoping to get a perspective from maybe some long time owners, to see if this really is as good as it seemed!

I’ve owned the Pro for about 8 months now and although it rarely gets its due wrist time in the rotation, I absolutely love its heritage aesthetics and design. So much hate was levied on the watch for its thickness and while yes, Tudor could have reduced the thickness by a tad but to me, it’s a very comfortable wear due to the relative short lug-to-lug; also a few mm of the thickness lies in the domed sapphire. I’m not a bracelet guy, so opted for the strap. Imo, Tudor knocked it out of the park with this release. No regrets …. 🤙❤️🤙

Amazing, that’s good to hear!

I appreciate peoples perspective that it’s a bit too thick. But at the end of the day, it’s not supposed to be an elegant dress watch. In my mind, you use it on the heavy duty stuff!

I haven’t tried it on, but on paper, it still seems pretty thick. I think Tudor could be more careful with case thicknesses given their insistence on slab sided cases. I’ve heard that the thickness isn’t an issue, but I think they’d do well to work on it. Not to say it needs to be dress watch thin, but a little might help a lot.

How do you find the thickness?

How do you find the thickness?

As commented/alluded above, I don’t feel/notice the thickness upon wearing the watch primarily due to the few mm’s residing in the dome sapphire. I believe most owners or those who’ve tried on the watch in person would say the same 🤙

It's a great watch but I don't wear mine often enough. The thickness is not a deal breaker for me and I actually find it comfortable on my wrist.

·

It all depends on your wrist size, my is 6,25”, I’ve tried it on a couple of times and it feels thick and head heavy, maybe is because I’m used to my BB58. I really like the que watch but it’s no for me.

·

The watch is very wearable on bracelet given the weight balance.

·

Its a chunky monkey that 2 guys said does not get enough wrist time. The new BB is out so try them all on. Buy the one you never want to take off.

You’ve got to wear it. Then you’ll realize what a great watch it is. It wears really well. It’s thick on paper, not on the wrist.

·

I borrowed it from a friend and found it very top heavy. Initially, it curved on my wrist nicely and I liked it, but the complaints that it's a heavy, thick watch are real. I had some fatigue and it just bothered me after a few hours at work.

Thanks everyone for all the input. I’ve got a 7 inch wrist and I’m definitely a bracelet guy, so sounds like maybe it could work for me.

BB Pro owner for 9 months now. Will just list the summary:

- the watch is excellently balanced on bracelet, not so much on strap or nato ( top heavy )

- bracelet and clasp are amongst best in sub 7k range

- timekeeping within 1,5s a day over long spand of wearing and on winder

- fit and finish great for money and looks amazing, especially lume. If you like vintage vibe you will be impressed with how it looks

- i didn't like fake rivets but you don't notice them upon wearing it

- last about thicknes and for me it is not an issue. I have 19cm wrist and it blends in perfectly. Doesn't fit under cuff easily but it is not a dress watch either. As described above some thickness is due to domed glass and heafty portion sinks into wrist so overall case thickness you feel upon wearing is not so big as some might describe based soley on measurements.

Overall I am very satisfied with the watch and will be my daily desk diving companion for years to come. My advice would be try it on and definitely go for the bracelet upon trying out and purchase

This is really useful, thank you!

It sounds as though it’s a bracelet guys watch

Hey Dude,

I've owned mine for while and it sits in rotation. Initially I found it a little top heavy but wear it for a week solid and it's fine. Less top heavy on the bracelet but a little heavy for a 40mm watch. I put it on an Uncle Seiko Jubilee and kept the oem clasp - A game changer for me and this watch, wears super comfy now and looks more vintage. It actually looks better with scuffs so with time will develop a lovely patina to match the dial. A great everyday watch and a perfect holiday watch - Gmt, date and 200m water resistance not that I go deeper than 2m while swimming or snorkeling 🤣

I just added one to my collection today and love it. Yes, it is a bit thick but not distractingly so. I have a small wrist but the short lug to lug makes it a comfortable wear. I have wanted one since they were announced and this one fell into my lap today unexpectedly!
