My first vintage watch - Ingersoll GL765G

Picked up this elegant Ingersoll on EBay for a decent price! The case back is in rough shape and the crystal is very scratched, but this only adds to the charm in my opinion. It seems to be running very well and keeps time fine too as far as I can tell.

I’ve tried to find more info on it to get specifics but have had no luck.

Anyone out there that can use their google-fu to find out more?

Update: here’s a better picture of the case back

Managed to get the case back off, here is the movement:

It says PUW 1260 on the movement, which is a German made Pforzheimer Urhenwerke movement from between 1960-1966, as far as I could find out.

Caseback picture might help.

A cursory googling of all the info on the dial doesn't show a lot but apparently it isn't Swiss Made which explains the "foreign" at the 6. Possibly German or British.

At that point I got tired of looking.

That already gets me on the way a bit! Added a case back picture in my post! Thanks for the effort anyway

Looks good. A bit of Polywatch attention is well worth the effort.

Nice linen-y dial! Does that say "17 Jewel Lever" and "FOREIGN" at the bottom?

·

@PoorMansRolex the dial is very nice! And yes indeed it does say those things ons the dial!

Then there is this Ingersoll - The Ingersoll Bison No. 18 - visualising it, miss it. Gave it to my 6'7" 260lb ex-international bouncer buddy as thought it would suit him better! Like a lost kid lol.

My first vintage watch - I found in my mum's attic, not been touched in more than 40 years! Gave it a wind and a shake amazingly started straight off (Swiss quality)...(only needed buffing up).

I’ve seen some of their current offerings, they are interesting.

Not really my thing for the most part, they have some nice and reasonably priced vintage stuff though!

Yep, bought it with my paper round money, true enough! 😃
