What do you wear on vacation?

Today I’m going on vacation for roughly 1 and a half, to 2 weeks and I brought my Casio calculator watch, and my old faithful Citizen chandler(I won’t elaborate because it’s story is in my bio, if you’re interested).

Then I wondered what others may wear or bring on vacation, so I want to see what you bring and also some stories if you would like to share.

I went to Ireland for the first time this year and brought my G-Shock, thinking it would be the only one I needed. At the last minute (as I was leaving the house) I slipped my trusty Seiko SNK803 in my bag just in case. My first night in Ireland, I got woken up at 4:00 in the morning by the Casio’s alarm, which I had accidentally set while trying to change my time zone. Was so tired from the travel and annoyed at being woken up, I hit random buttons to turn it off and I tossed it across the room (it was fine, it’s a G-Shock!) 😅 I used my Seiko the rest of the trip and now think of Ireland when I wear it. ☘️

Whatever I feel like I guess

That citizen is a great vacation watch.

Depends where I’m going - but if it’s a safe locale I’ll bring my Pam111 and it never leaves my wrist. If it’s an unsafe place? Nothing, just not worth the potential danger to physical safety

I brought my Raymond Weil for some R&R for a long Memorial weekend in Baja. Tomorrow I might bring out my Seamaster.

Choose watches that suit your vacation adventure. Last year I went to Alaska for a week and brought my Orient Mako Pepsi for water activities, Hamilton Field Khaki Auto for hiking, and Tissot Visodate for dressier events.

This is brave because with my luck, I’d have hit snooze and then tossed it into never finding it again land

I wear my Omega Aqua Terra. Goes with everything, has a jump hour feature so that it's easy to adjust when crossing time zones and is super comfortable. I also have it on rubber, not a bracelet, so it blends in. It's not a target watch. With 150m of water resistance, I don't worry about the situations I may find myself in.

These two are my vacation duo serving different purposes. One is made for adventure, pool, ocean, zip lining, whatever the vacation brings. The other is for dinners, evening events, etc. They compliment each other quite well (for me at least), and serve two distinct purposes While bother offering bi-directional bezels for dual time zone use. If I only had one, I’d bring the Tudor.

I went to France for 6 days in March to play a show and visit. I wanted a watch that would be a good all-rounder to wear 24/7 (including the show) and that I wouldn't have to worry about. I bought a G-Shock DW-5600 for the occasion and only brought that watch with me. It didn't disappoint and is even my most worn watch since!

For some reason, I gravitate towards Tudor BB Pro

And for all adventures.. snorkeling, mountain biking it’s Apple Watch

It depends on the vacation. If it's a city trip, anything goes. The beach vacation: a diver, like my Seiko 7002 or my Vostok Amphibian. A few years ago, I went bikepacking through the Caucasus Mountains for a month. Since light packing was key, I only took one watch. I decided on my G-Shock DW-5600. It has an alarm, a light to see what time it was when the umpteenth nightly storm woke me up in my tent and a stopwatch. It also survived 40°C+ days in the valley and snow up in the mountains, and several river crossings.

I’ve worn that same Citizen on trips several times!

·

I envy people who can bring a minimal selection. I have no self control and always seem to end up packing like 5+. Mostly GMTs, at least one field or GADA option, and a GShock.

Thanks, and that’s a reasonable point, I just wear my Casio Ae-1200 when I do something that will mess up my other watches

I started collecting watches late in life after I took care of basic necessities of life.. one motto.. work hard till you achieve what you want and then with surplus buy things that gives you pleasure.. in my case… watches
