To me, it’s a classic of sorts. Nice watch. Didn’t realize it was ISO 6425.

I have always had a soft spot for this watch and really tempted to get one. Can I confirm if this watch has hacking? I tried one on recently but found that it doesn’t have the hacking function.

Yes, the Miyota 821D is fully hackable. It is a great watch.

Correction: My Devil Diver has the Miyota 8204 movement, which is hackable. It appears Bulova quietly updated the movement on the Devil Diver, midway through one of the recent reissue’s production run, to the Miyota 8204 movement, which is hackable.

Yes, the Oceanographers, along with the Sea King are ISO 6425 certified watches from Bulova.

You didn’t flag one of its best features … the cyclops is an INTERNAL cyclops (not an infernal external one). Really wish more watches would take this approach as it’s way batter.

Great watch this in so many ways.

100%; the internal cyclops is definitely a great feature.

The newer ones have hacking. the 8000's movement got an upgrade midway through production of this watch. I ordered a new one and it was hacking.

Seems like both you and @WatchWookiee both got models with the hackable movement. It’s so strange though. I was just in the citizen flagship store in Japan (which also houses Bulova within) and all their new watches were not hackable. The staff even told me they were using the movement that was not hackable. That was the buzzkill that stopped me from making my purchase. May I know where you both purchased your watches with the hackable movement?

@Lufty_Luft is correct. The Miyota 821D, originally in the Devil Diver in one of the recent reissues, is not hackable. Bulova, not sure why, quietly updated the movement, midway through the reissue’s production run to the Miyota 8204 movement, which is hackable. It seems, from your experience, that Bulova is selling the Devil Diver with both movement variations and it is a luck of the draw on which one you get, I guess, depending on when and where you buy it? Definitely not cool. Not sure it helps, but I purchased mine in 2023 from eBay.

Oh damn, that makes it even more “risky” on whether it’s possible to get one with or without hackable movement. Perhaps my best luck would be on the resale market 🙃 Thanks anyways!

Mine was the smaller orange one, if that helps

I love that lume shot.

I love that lume shot.

Agreed; they use frosted acrylic lenses on metal mounts over the lume dots to make the lume better. It’s an interesting design.
