The CWC SBS DD is the best... Period.

This watch is the epitome of no nonsense.

Durable coated black case. legible dial, fully marked bezel, day and date, durable jeweled quartz movement, permanent spring bars, screw down crown, 300m wr, sapphire crystal.

This watch has everything a person, (Princess or otherwise), needs.

You can see the time, your timing bezel, and the day and date at a glance.

You don't need to worry about damaging it. You will break before the watch does.

It can be a great travel watch, as it doesn't attract undue attention from far.

It blends in, in most situations and just gets the job done.

I just finished day two of three driving a load of horses across half of the country, 1,686 miles down. this watch has been there for me when I needed it, and stayed out of the way when I didn't.

Because of this, I believe that Merida princess of DunBroch, would have loved this watch, she is not finicky, she gets the job done. Just like this watch.

Image

It would stand up to her activities like archery and sword play. (and saving her mother) And look good doing it.

This watch wins everything... Life, battles, work, play, this contest.

Nice very nice, if your budget wont allow though and you don't mind a different name on the dial, I've been very pleased with this-

A CWC was one of the winners last year. If you can bear to look at that boring utilitarian dial and don't have anywhere to go where you can't wear boots, this one may last a while.

·

I prefer the looks of the G10 to this model, but nice piece, nevertheless.

Agree it is utilitarian, but that's why it's good. A watch like this could have been made last week, or 40 years ago. Timeless 😜

Wearing it in more formal occasions is all about how the wearer presents themselves, be confident about it and no one will even think twice about it. (Mostly because hardly anyone will even notice it, because most people don't care).

There are some out there who hold the opinion that a formal watch should not have second hand because such timing is rude or that in truly formal occasions that no watch should be worn. These are silly people and they can be safely ignored.

Lol, Agreed.

Cwc or vertex m60 ?

Cwc or vertex m60 ?

I'll begin with the fact that I really love the Vertex M60, and Vertex as a brand.

But a few things make it not as good of a candidate for the best, the movement while admittedly nicer, is less durable than the Ronda in the SBS. The next main issue is the price, I can buy 4 SBS from CWC for the same money, or buy one SBS, and use the remaining $2,000 to help fund adventures to use the watch.

·

True, that with the price, but quart over mechanical?. how about the vertex M60 versus the CWC RN diver1980 reissue ( mechanical ) thoughts , both great British watches , for me hard to pick one , deep pockets!!! , have both if I was so lucky

This is a better comparison. In the case of the 1980 reissue vs the M60, I would like to have the M60. Newer design, 600m wr vs 300m, and the movement is C.O.S.C. certified, so probably a better value overall. It's a hard choice, like you say.

Would be nice to have both though.

BUT... The SBS is still a better 1 watch. It costs less, is more durable, due to the movement, and will keep better time than either of the above autos. 😬 (ready the pitchforks)

So as the answer to your first question: Yes, in the case of a watch meant for hard use, I prefer Quartz over a mechanical or auto.

The enthusiast part of me cries when I say that, but in reality, a quality quartz will be the more durable, better timekeeping option. (I am well versed in killing the movements in watches, I have broken at least 3 autos and a mechanical during my collecting journey, but only one quartz, and that was a no-name cheap movement.)

I love my CWC ..!!! It's a IFYYK watch and it's soooo underrated..!! Everytime I put it on there's this completely different feeling of 'badass' . Goes under the radar but yet completely capable.

·

I am inclined to agree how good this watch actually is…

I agree, it's just an awesome watch, keeps up with literally anything you can throw at it, and blends in day to day.

I love your model.

Again, it won last year, wearing me…

and…

  1. It’s 1991 issued and therefore is hard as nails

  2. You are treading a worn path, so -2 for originality

  3. You aren’t wet enough to be wearing a diver. Get back under your desk!

I can't and won't argue with 1 and 2.

But 3, I don't need no stinking desk. Especially today, the watch is identifying as a trench watch...

Thanks for the comment, how is the movement in that watch? Does the second hand hit near the marks? I looked at those when I was contemplating re-buying the SBS I have now. I sold it a couple years ago, regretted it, and eventually re bought last year.

I love the auto reissue that you have. That's a nice color strap as well. Great choice!

The time keeping is excellent and the seconds hand does actually hit the markers, there was an issue with the first MWC that was sent to me regarding alignment with the bezel and markers but my replacement is fine, I do still believe this to be the best choice if you cant afford the CWC, It is still the only watch I have been wearing since purchase which is weird for me, nothing else gets a look in,..also I have not bought anything else as I have a strange contentment with this in my collection.
