So, as I have said before in other posts, the first watch I ever had was given to me at the age of 10 years old. It was a 1978 Texas Instruments Model 550. It was a medium brown color, and had a smooth, matching, vinyl strap. It had two buttons (one of which was flush with the watch case, and had to be pressed with a paper clip.)
I recently acquired a 1979 Texas Instruments Model 550 on Ebay. This one is a different color (black,) and has a (matching) cargo-mesh, vinyl strap. This one has three buttons, one of which is flush with the case, as mentioned in the paragraph above.
It's not quite the one I had as a kid, but I'd say it's 95%, which is close enough for now. The search for the exact model will continue quietly in the background, at a much-less frantic pace. 😎
Now that I have it, I am going to give it a good cleaning, touch up the face scratches with some PolyWatch, and replace the battery and set it. If it still works, I might switch out the band (the one that's on it doesn't fit my mammoth, 8" wrist) and put it into the daily-wear rotation. 😀 If it doesn't work, I am going to put it on a watch pillow, and stick it in my watch box, where I can at least look at it. Of course, before that can happen, I will actually need to buy a watch box first! 🤣
LONG STORY SHORT: I got my (nostalgic) grail watch, kinda. Yay for me. 😎 LOL 🤣

It kind of has a Kitt from Knightrider vibe to it. Pretty cool and unusual piece, hope it works.
Hell yea
For reference, a photo of the exact model I had, which I found on the internet:
