Old watch that we found...

This is a Seiko watch that my mom gave to my wife a few years back as a hand-me-down; my wife had lost track of it, until we found it again the day before yesterday.

Does anyone have any specs on this? Type of glass, water resist rating, make and model of the movement, etc.? Is there a PDF manual for it somewhere? Etc.

Thanks in advance for all of your help! ๐Ÿ™‚

It's from #seiko's #credor line (applied logo above the Seiko name) ย - so a fancy one for the ladies. The movement is a #quartz V401 which places it in the 1990s. I could give you a more specific year and month based on the serial number on the back of the case. A nice macro shot of the dial and the two sets of numbers on either side of the 6 o'clock would also be useful - the second set is the case identifier, which I can't see because I am apparently an old man.ย

A very quick flip through my 1990 Seiko catalogue tells me that similar models (e.g. the #exceline range) sold for about JPY20,000 which is roughly equivalent to USD$170.00 today (Alas, they sell for between $30-50 these days). ย ย

The crystal will be Seiko #hardlex most probably, although being a Credor, there is the possibility it is sapphire... though I wouldn't count on it. I would treat it as not water resistant at all, even if you bought it new in the 1990s!ย

Some judicious Googling for the V401 movement will probably turn up a manual for this or a similar timepiece. Sorry I couldn't be more help.ย

V401-2830 R2 on the front dial, 660966 serial number on back.

V401-2830 R2 on the front dial, 660966 serial number on back.

June 1996. The case number though is interesting. I can't seem to find anything related to a 2830 or bracelet, and I only have a copy of volume 1 of the 1996 catalogue - presumably, Credor featured in a later volume. I would have a search around the internet for a #credor catalogue in the 1994-1997 range and see what you can find.ย

On the back, there is a different number:

V401-0920 R1

Does that help?

Bingo!ย

I misstated above - 2830 is the dial number, 0920 is the case. However, I can't add anything new except that some of these came in 14k gold. ๐Ÿค‘
