Bargain shopping, Cartier REALLY!

Good Sunday Crunchers.

I have stumbled across a Cartier (?) At a bargain store here in my local area. The store has quite a few fake watches but this has caught my attention. He has had it in the store for about a month. I have not looked at it to thoroughly nor asked what he wants for it. It is pretty beat up. I have searched the interwebs and found some similar Cartiers but not this one. The bracelet is beat up as well, it has a lot of wrist time on it. Just has Cartier engraved on the back. If anyone has info on this watch let me know or how to tell if it's fake. It does not have Cartier written in the Roman numeral, I don't know when they started doing that. Thanks a bunch crunches. Take care and good day!

I don't know, brother, it doesn't look very Cartier-ish to me. But again, I have no idea. Were you in Winchester or Front Royal?

Looks more like a Hamilton dual time to me. Not seen a Cartier like that but it's quite a common design.

Like @Pallet_Fork says, it does not feel very Cartier. If it were me, I'd steer clear.

I have collected vintage, been around a lot of Cartiers seen a lot of fakes, this is a dial that was pretty popular in the 80s on fakes even some legit clocks that used quartz movements. Mostly I saw a similar version of this watch on the wrist of a friend a few Fridays ago, she said that she paid the equivalent of $15 cad for it years ago in Kowloon. That is a solid price for a Cartier.

Thanks, I was thinking if I got it cheap (($20), I wouldn't feel bad if it was crap. Then if the guy doesn't know, but he has alot of homages there. I like looking at the vintage watches. Thanks, will take your advice and steer clear.

I mean it's likely worth a punt @ $20. My steer clear was based on if they were asking hundreds.
