Alpinist Strap

My lovely wife further enabled my watch obsession with a new Seiko Alpinist for my birthday! Which strap do you like?

The OEM strap looks good but it is not very comfortable and feels a little “plasticy”. I also smashed the deployant clasp a little flatter so it doesn’t dig into my wrist.

I think the aftermarket strap looks great. It is less dressy than the alligator pattern and skews more toward the field watch look.

What are your favorite straps for the Alpinist?

I’m a sucker for the visibility of the stitching, right one

The gator strap looks dressier and would make the watch more versatile.

I don't think the Alpinist is ever going to make a convincing dress watch. Brown distressed leather or bracelet suits it better IMO.

I own this watch, and I love it. I was able to improve the strap and soft it up with coconut oil, and it wears very comfortably now. But the truth is this extremely capable sports Watch really needs a less dressy strap and a more functional one. Big fan of that distressed leather strap … excellent choice!

I have the white dial alpinist and I took the OEM strap off first thing. I usually run a NATO of my choosing though. Otherwise search for uncle straps or strap code if you want an aftermarket bracelet. Not sure if anyone else has other bracelet recommendations. I’ve been eyeing an aftermarket leather like you have. My attire is more casual anyway so it makes no difference to me.

I have a nice Strapcode bracelet for my King Turtle. I just think a field watch, even a fairly fancy one like the Alpinist, doesn't look right on a bracelet. The Alligator would look interesting if it was comfortable, but since it isn't, I think it's the distressed leather for now.
