I took mine back a few days ago, less than a week after purchasing it. I'm told there's a new Alpinist on its way that doesn't suffer from this terrible affliction.
Thatโs the double edged sword of Seiko. They have a great looking dial or some other feature that is really great for the price but then these little issue might be there too.

It took a week for me
The first few days of ownership was agonising.
But after a week "maybe... It does not really matter?"
Bought the Baby Alpinist.
Problem solved!

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. ๐๐
