Christopher Ward - The Twelve

Inside - Loupe, The magazine of #christopherward Issue 29. Summer 2023 - you will find The Twelve. Inspired from steel sport watches from the 70s, “The Twelve brings industrial design together with a sculpted silhouette and an extraordinary integrated bracelet.” Once you see The Twelve, you can’t help but think of 1972 The Royal Oak for #audemarspiguet or the 1976 #patekphilippe Nautilus. The Twelve comes in two versions a stainless steel & Grade 2 Titanium. Both watches come with #sellita movements but the titanium one is chronometer certified with 56 Hr power reserve. Interested to see both versions side by side. Christopher Ward is showing the world they belong in the conversation of other top watch makers. Hard to disagree

Design is subjective, but as far as build quality, they definitely equal or exceed anything in their price range.

I think they are carving out a niche for themselves in the $1000-2500 price range, that has been abandoned by other brands moving up-market. Based on what the CEO has said in interviews, I think they are pretty happy to stay "affordable", rather than raise prices to increase perceived "value" int he community. A great example of that is the C60 300 coming out at a lower price than the older C60 600 models, because they were less expensive to manufacture.

I initially didn’t like the photos when they were released but I got to see these at Windup and they’re not bad looking. The dial texture looks a lot better in person.

I don’t see myself ever buying one of them but they’re pretty nice. CW does a good job, I love my C65 Aquitaine.

The page for the Ti model says:

Seen as an alternative to ETA’s 2892-A2 calibre, the SW300-1 can be customised with various complications, including date, monophase, and GMT functions.

So I want to see a GMT version and I wont even take a breath before hitting the Buy button!
