I have the Serica Comanado (non-chronometer) and it’s a nice watch. Made well. I wouldn’t hesitate to get another.
I know there was an issue with the 5303 when they first released, but I’m certain it’s since been remedied. They definitely have their own distinct design language. I’d say that’s a plus. Yeah, you should check them out if you’re in the neighborhood.
I know @DreySalty has the 5303 and can probably give better input.

@Time4Watches yes as @Kalsota I have the 5303-2 COSC. It’s my fav and daily watch : great look and proportions, a strapmonster and with an average of -2/+1 since september 2023. I never heard about a crown issue with the new soprod movement.
Andy I know you have the Lorier and the Serica. Which one do you like more and why?
Good question! Very different type pf
Watches. I think that lorier gives more for the money. Serica is very good but idk if serica es double of good thatn the lorier because of the price is double the price of a lorier and i think they are built equally. I like more the serica style very different and original. But lorier is best value for money

I forgot to mention that now the 5303 is chronometer so that is a big difference between this and lorier and the past iteration of this 5303 i hace the past iteration and it has been working lovely.

I might be going to Paris this year and will definitely pay a visit to Serica to try it on.

I just just recently got the Spinnaker Spence with an arrow hour hand. The red was on sale for a great price.
Douglas (sister brand of Wolbrook)
Professional Skindiver II
Some do things about it,
Regulated Miyota, Interesting take on shock resistance, INTERNAL roulette date window, Destro crown, countdown bezel, divers 200.
For actual rugged dive watches that come regulated this might be the best priced one available.
Downside to a large portion of peeps, exclusively acrylic crystal. YMMV.
I'm liking the 5303 Serica a lot. Might try it in France on a trip at the end of the year.
The Nivada is a beautiful watch

Same as @willinsf, a Spinnaker Spence Crimson.
AT quartz, paid £1300 on eBay
Seiko Samurais immediately come to mind.

Great choice ! I’m wearing a 6190 Cali everyday and couldn’t be happier. Considering having their GMT watch in the future
Another vote for Serica. If you get a new one with the M100 Soprod you should be good. Mine is running as accurately as my Breguet.
I got one on my DIY Watch Club Bronze Diver that I put together myself! Less than $500!
People have already mentioned Serica - but it's worth stating how good the hand-set is on Serica's watches … so I will:
Serica's hand-set is sensational.
For 10% of your $1500 get a barrow load of these😂
I've been eyeballing the Heron Marinor lately, and will likely pull the trigger on their current preorder. Worth a look.
Seiko King Samurai. Less than $1k new. Seiko SBDC 051 or 053. I had both but realized they're too big for.
Seiko sbdc051. It's a gorgeous gorgeous watch (screenshot from Bruce Williams' youtube video)
My last post was a very relatable post as I chose the same two watches in the same order to know the name of the case 😂🤘🏽
For me after the 2 you have posted I would say the extremely budget friendly yet stunningly crafted PAGANI DESIGN PD-1766

I think Lorier, Serica and Heron are your best bet.
