British Military Watches

My late father was a Royal Marine back in the 60's, I didn't spend a lot of time with him as my parents separated when I was just a wee boy. But he would pass through town from time to time when I was in my teens. He had some amazing stories of things that happened during his service. During one of these visits he gave me a Timex that was on a RM regimental NATO strap. He was very excited to share it with my as a 'father to son' moment. I thought it was the ugliest thing ever and threw it in a drawer and it was forgotten and lost. Now 30+ years later I have a compulsion to acquire MOD issued watches. Perhaps its serves as a penance for not giving him a chance to connect with me when I was a teen full of angst and hostility towards him for being a dead-beat-dad, maybe it's to solidify a connection with my roots being a first generation American, who's entire extended family is in Aberdeen. IDK. But when I wear these I think of him.
