It’s a Seiko 7N43-7A50, and honestly it’s a watch after my heart. In my inventory, this is the one I personally want. The wife keeps tabs on what’s inventory and what’s mine, frustrating at times but it does keep me from becoming a hoarder.
On to the watch. It fits my 6.5” wrist beautifully. I measured it at 34.5mm excluding the crown. 40mm lug to lug. Just a touch under 8mm thick.
It was pretty badly abused when I got it. You could barely see the dial through the crystal. Battery was corroded. Steel was dull.
I started off by stripping it down, giving it a nice hot bath. Then I use a diamond paste to polish by hand. I like to leave some wear, it’s an older watch. I’ve found my way of bringing back the shine without removing the character. Thankfully the battery didn’t completely corrode the movement, I was able to clean it up really good. Pressed in a new crystal.
I had the strap for another project I’m working on. It’s Barton, rubber on the skin side and smoke suede outside. It just looked right. It’s super comfortable. I felt it just suited this watch.
