Learned of this brand today.

I had never heard of Junghans before, but man do they have some brilliant design!

Yeah, their designs are spectacular. You should look up their Max Bill lineup, truly a legend of Bauhaus design

I absolutely  will!

·

Sort of an under the radar German brand with a variety of models from minimalist hand wound and automatics to radio controlled models.

A Max Bill from #junghans is absolutely on the list of to buys in 2022.

Interesting how you didn't choose a max bill

In all honesty, this was the first model I had seen and didn't  look further as time was pressing. I am definitely  going to continue the search.

I saw this one model and had to post it, I need to deep dive on the brand so I can go insane wanting to own as many of them as I can.

I've  jused now looked into them more and his designs are brilliant. They are strong in their simplicity yet elegant.

One could write a book on how WWII disrupted the watch industry.  It took both Germanies, Belgium, and France decades to rebuild, all while losing time and technological advances to the neutral Swiss. Labor costs, initially, gave advantages to the Japanese.  American companies grew large and fat and failed to adjust.

There was also the stigma of association with National Socialism.  This perhaps affected Kienzle more than Junghans or Laco.

If engineering and simplicity of design are your thing then you found the right brand.

Was very tempted to buy the maxbill chronoscope… tried it almost bought it. Super impress with looks of it

·

Me too, very tempted with max bill for its bauhaus design language. Yet at the end of the day, i wont get one as it is very much of a dress watch and they dont suit my needs 😔

Junghans does not get too much love these days, probably because their flagship models have barely changed in the last half-century or so. It's the cheapest brand stocked by Wempe in my parents' hometown, and if Wempe thinks that these are proper watches one should take note.

We had a post the other day from a female watch enthusiast complaining that so many for-women watch models are overly girly. Junghans would be a good choice then, because their for-women models stay understated.

It's a jeweller/watchseller/watchmaker, long established. As a watchmaker, one of the five who made fliegers in WW2. Still makes watches today. Originally from Germany but has now stores worldwide, eg. in New York. Known for superb customer service. Watch-wise it's high end. Patek Philippe, A.Lange, Rolex, etc. down to Nomos and even Junghans as their entry-level, perhaps not on 5th avenue though.

That is quite a history, I am glad to finally be introduced with the name.

I don't  hAve the need for it myself, but I will tell you what, for that kind of watch I would definitely  find a need haha every date night ever with the Mrs., heading to a gathering of family or friends, you name it I would make it work lol. My problem is affording one. Kind of a hurdle at times in this hobby, am I right?

Was this one you stumbled across or did you go to a specific seller? What was it that steered you away from buying it?

·

@Bigboy138 what are your thoughts bud?

·

old German watchmaker, usually with very good quality. Also check for Junkers watches, sometimes even better, for stunning prices (www.shop.junkers.de).
