Shortlisting field(-ish) watches

I've been on the lookout for a field watch for some time. Tried to build my own from parts, tried Timex and Boderry but didn't really find what I was looking for.

Now I have narrowed it down to two watches.

The Tudor Ranger and the Longines Spirit. Price wise similar. Very different heritage and hence style. Both of them are appealing to me. Both are high quality.

Not sure if I'm going pre-owned or new. They aren't out of my price range but certainly on the higher priced side, at least taking into consideration what I'm prepared to spend on a watch.

I haven't seen them irl so I need some input here. What are the pros and cons?

I think the Longines is more original (but of course there will be vintage examples). Why not the titanium version of the Spirit?

ranger is more iconic and handsome

The Longines has applied indices and quite some depth, whereas the Tudor is super flat with printed yellowish indices. Perhaps you should check them out in Ye Olde Shoppe? I think you’ll find Spirit more to your liking.

The Longines is such a good looking watch! I'd go Tudor Northstar before the Ranger just for that cool power meter hand/dial hybrid. But then you're getting into a different style/case.

I’m the Ranger’s biggest fan. It’s a pair of blue jeans. It can go with almost anything in almost any situation. It’s an accurate movement in a very legible dial at a size that’s perfect on me. The Longines is a great looking watch for sure but the stark simplicity of the Tudor combined with a remarkable bracelet made the choice for me. No wrong answer here though, nothing but respect for the Longines.

The simplicity of the ranger appeals to me whereas the more elaborate elegance of the Spirit kind of sparks my interest.

Thanks fo your answers. I think I have to se them on my wrist before taking the decs.

I think the Longines personally, the finishes and details in the dial justify the cost moreso than the ranger (which is still a good looking watch in its right)

Longines all day

Logines dial caught my eyes more on this. It has more details and the second hand extend all the way to the second markers.

Yes, it pops more than the Tudor. I'm leaning heavily towards the Longines as it is.
