Hi all,
After an anniversary gift for the wife. After discussion she would like a ‘nice’ watch… yay!
Currently has an Apple Watch and some big faced Skagens. I want to move away from Skagen as her last one had terrible build quality.
Criteria are;
Around £500
New or used
Water resistance 50m+
‘Small’ lugs, large face, maybe 36mm or less. Sorta like Max Bill proportions.
No integrated bracelet
Quartz or automatic

For me, and a lot to choose from, but at this moment its..

Well since you asked, been on this kick for awhile....
Tissot Seastar 1000 enamel white.
I was honestly surprised by how much this watch smacks in person. Pics online don't do it justice TBH. The enamel dial/bezel with the brushed sides/polished top finishing just works.
Size is great too. My wife has an SRPD classic black, a couple of Electric fields, and a citizen. This thing has been on her wrist for the past month straight.
It's a bit below your price point, but since it comes with QD (quick disconnect spring bars) order some more options from Barton/Geckota/Zuludiver?

I think this is a great option. Currently on the list of watches I want to buy my wife as well. It’s beautiful.
Would love to know what you go for, almost impossible as we don't know her style, some lovely choices out there.
There's also the upcoming Lorier Astra.
Bracelet is a lil bigger than some others, but dimensions fit.
And I love how Lorier shows you the three references their designs come from.
AND the case back is unadorned on purpose, the more better to engrave! 🤘🏻
If you want her to wear it often I would suggest a thin quartz watch. There are a lot to pick from in that price point.
My wife loves her 31mm Tissot PR100 MOP dial, and I would recommend that one, or perhaps another Tissot. They have a nice range of smaller watches for women.
Traska makes some nice options. This comes in a bunch of colors and is 36.5mm:

So as a follow up to this…
Went to my local AD where I got my SMP and tried on a few watches, 29mm Aqua Terra, De Ville and a Breitling Chronomat 32mm (lovely watch), and. Tudor BB 32mm. Just for a bit of fun and to gauge what style she likes.
Ive since ordered a Certina DS Action ‘Lady’, 32mm, 300m WR. Got a cracking deal on it.
The problem is I also have a PRX 35mm and a Seiko Cocktail Time incoming for her!
Going to line them up and ask her to pick! Will update when the deed is done. Im leaning to the Certina.
