Birthday watch contenders

While researching watches to consider buying for my 50th later in the year these 3 chronographs have to be placed on the serious contenders list. The first is from Roue Watches, is 40mm, limited to 1000 in each of the 7 colourways and is run by a Seiko VK63 Meca Quartz movement. The second from Out of Order, also 40mm and is run by a Miyota 6S20 quartz movement. Cost €350. The 3rd from About Vintage. This watch is also 40mm, and run by a Miyota 6S20. Costs €399. My maximum budget is €1000 and these all fall within the €300 - €400 range. I am still undecided on whether to by multiple cheaper models or 1 big purchase, but these are a good start.

I have it, its 43.5 mm wears like 42

I have a couple Roue SSDs that like very much. Don’t wear them very often anymore, but I do enjoy looking at them, that I can’t bring myself to get rid of them. Great design language. I hadn’t heard of Out of Order. I’d say I like that one a lot too based solely on your picture, but I think the logo is a bit of a bummer. Should’ve left it at the three Os. Spelling it out underneath is a bit much for me.

Funny, i think it fills out that space at the top in just the right proportions. Busy, but not cluttered!

I'd have to try it on in person I think. 42mm is as large as I like to go. I wonder if there is an AD here in the Netherlands? More research required!

I like the Roue off the photos

The Roue is limited to 1000 pieces in each of the 7 colourways, is 40mm and has a Seiko VK63 Meca Quartz for its engine. Oh, and it costs €285.

Fair enough! It is definitely a good looking watch, the logo is just my 2 cents.

Buy them all. Try them all. Choose the ones you like most. Send the other ones back.

Sound advice, cheers 🍻

ooo watches are just pre-damaged watches. Other than that, there's nothing special about them and they cost a pretty penny for something that isn't worth it in terms of value. Hopefully they are better than they used to be. When I first found out about them I was pretty interested in getting one. Then I did some research and watched reviews (for what they are worth) and was seriously disappointed. They cost next to nothing to make.

I'd get either one other the other two or both...

Have you considered the Speedtimer for the one big purchase?

Thanks for the info! I'll take a look at the speedier now

If I had the spare cash for one, that's one I would definitely add to my collection. I'd get the panda variant (white with black dials).

How about a Timex Marlin Chronograph?

I would go with Roue. Most balanced look imo.

That is a beauty! I just had a look at the modern variations and they just don't quite hit the mark.

Have you looked at any Dan Henry chronographs? VK63 meca quartz movement. Seem similar to the Roue. Love my 1962.

How about the Seiko Speedtimer or The Cheaper SSB models

At sub £1k, I'd personally be looking at Christopher Ward. Whatever you decide on, happy big birthday. 😁
