Now as you saw last week I took delivery of the Seiko 55th anniversary SRPH17K1
Looks the dogs danglies, vintage but with modern materials so you get your WR, reliability and don't have to baby or worry when wearing it.
It's definitely got the vintage vibe alright. It's face is a joy, even the date window is superb (and you don't hear me say that very often)
But to me the case is the star, a super rendition of the origonal, even down to the tiny crown
Which is truth be told a bit fiddly but true to the origonal and credit to Seiko for this to put form over function. And the case shape with brushed uppers and polished sides and cut outs, it's bang on the money.
The bezel is nice n thin and in keeping with the style and not the modern clicky thing no its friction and stiff but not too stiff and reinforces the retro feel to this watch.
The bracelet isvery nice as well, but not without criticisms the clasp is very small with only 2 holes for adjustment and personally I think the bracelet should have had a more of an aggressive taper to it. Minor critisms really and you should find your perfect fit as the links are small.
It's an awesome watch. I did pay full rrp at £350, but with the case being unique to this model and also the bracelet (correct me if I'm wrong) it's not a bad price for it, maybe a bit of bargain really. I bought this from Goldsmiths/Watches of Switzerland and they delivered it on launch day (great service) which made it even the more special as I've never had a watch 'on day one'.
Now stick around for part 2 as the damn hive mind won't let me publish the whole shebudle in a one go 😡.

Whats the name of the original model of this beautiful seiko 5?
I think it's the seiko 5 61-5D released in 1968, it's on the seiko boutique description of the watch.
