Fake Swatch?

If anyone can shed some light on this, I would be grateful.

Recently, I saw an advert on facebook advertising the swatch x omega collaboration watches for sale for £40/£50each.

I ordered the mission to Pluto edition (don’t judge) and waited to see what turned up. I must say that at this point I wasn’t expecting much with regard to quality or similarity to the original.

Well, it arrived yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised with what turned up! The whole package looked like the real thing in terms of the packaging and the watch itself. I have included pictures of these to show you all.

At this point, I have to ask is this the real thing? Have swatch produced too many and offloading them very cheaply on the quiet or, are people making fakes of these watches?

I can’t believe it can be worth the time and effort to make homages to a collection of £250 watches.

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Sorry for the long post

Don't judge me but in Facebook groups they say that the copies are better made than the original 🤣🤣🤣🤣 having said this, it is a watch that I personally don't like and I wouldn't buy it either in the original or in a copy

Well they fake cheap Casio's, so....🤔

·

That strap looks like some kind of leather type material? Could just be the picture. Sure the one I had was on a nylon strap?

·

Is there a logo embedded in the actual crystal? It would be above where the hands are attached, it's not easy to see!

You can get the same ones from AliExpress all day every day for less than £25, with the boxes and all that jazz. They are pretty much identical to the real thing in every way now and have been for some time.

I bought the £2.35 Omsan version though because it's funnier, the chronograph doesn't work, and even as someone who collects Swatch, I wouldn't pay any more than that for the MoonSwatch.

Legit MoonSwatches still go easily for $200-250 in the secondary market, so that price is sure too good to be true.

I’m sorry to give you these news, but you got sold a fake, and not a well-made one. The MoonSwatch script on the dial is plain wrong. The numerals on the top right register are too large. The strap looks more shiny and plasticky than it should be, and the box is not well made, look at the space in the word “dwar-f”. The tachymeter bezel is just wrong.

At least you didn't get burnt on an expensive watch.

Nevertheless you should hit it with a hammer. A branded fake is a fake is a fake.

·

It looks fake to me - the “Moonswatch” text on the dial should have the “S” emphasized (size and bold) - but you’ve paid much closer to what it’s worth than those paying RRP for a MoonSwatch and it will likely last at least as long.

In the same way the MoonSwatch lets you experience the Speedmaster in all its glory but at a fraction of the price you can experience the Speedmaster and the MoonSwatch but at a fraction of the price.

·

The bag is fake too.

·

It is definitely not the real thing. I can consider a homage for purchase but not a blatant fake. Call me snobbish but I can’t with this thing.

·

The price is to good to be true. The bezel is also off in color. Yours look to bright. Take it to a swatch store so they can compare it to the one one display.

Thanks for the input guys. You have definitely confirmed my thoughts. This is a really good fake and I have satisfied my curiosity. At least I haven’t been out of pocket too much and my wife has got herself a new watch! That’s what I call a win-win

There are some fakes for the same price with Omega instead on Omsan but the Omega print on the watch strap is rough and the documentation and invoice inside is just a photocopy, rest of the watch is good though with fully functional chronograph
