Rolex Waitlist Data Points

Hi All,

I saw a post earlier by @munday asking about the eta (not the movement) for a Rolex he is waitlisted for and I noticed I couldn't find a post on this forum where Rolex owners could share their datapoints of how long they had to wait and for what model so others have an idea of what to expect so I figured I'd make a post

For myself I waited 9 months before I got the call for a Blue 36mm OP and I'm located in  MN, USA

Hello I did a post like this 4 weeks ago and it seems wait times in the USA are a lot less than the UK

·

I have been on the waitlist for a OP 36mm blue dial since August for the second time as I fell off somehow or they never put me on the list!

This is Goldsmiths and I have some “history“ with them as I’ve previously bought Speedmaster and BlackBay 58 from them.

Globally, trying to give an ETTGTC (Estimated time to get 'The Call') is gonna be a crapshoot.

Why? Because we're not buying from one entity, but from dozens. Add in the secret criteria of each AD, how long they have been maintaining a wait-list (therefore how large it might be) & the purchase history of each individual potential customer. Now throw dozens of different model/dial/metal combos into the mix and it's going to be untrackable.

Best guess? Whenever you least expect & probably when you're least prepared.

I had a very similar buying history from my AD as well. At that time I only bought a Tag and a BB58. I guess I also did a little extra leg work dropping in from time to time to say hi to the sales associate who helped me for my previous watches which may have sped up my wait time but there's no way to say for sure

·

I’ve actually just emailed them to check I’m still on the “list” as I first registered an interest in Dec 21 but when I chased in July 22 I wasn’t registered.

feel bruised by the experience and I‘d never buy anything I don’t want from them to improve my standing as I’ve read others have done.

Hi, I've been on a list for nine months - Feb. to Nov. '19 - for a Sea Dweller 126600 no buying history.

·

I'm not sure patience is the right term for it, for me anyways I had already written off getting a Rolex in my mind and forgot I was on a waitlist that when my AD called I was like "who's this?" haha. I was just fortunate enough I had the money at that moment to purchase it

·

I waited a year for a sub. One day I walked in and bought a jewellery. She said she knows that I’ve been waiting a long time, she said she will try to “find” a sub for me. Then, right after I left the mall parking lot, I got the call. She said “congrats I found your submariner. Some BS waitlist.

Listed in September 22 for an OP36 in the UK.

My understanding is when an AD gets an allocation, they look at the registered interest list. Then it's down to your relationship and how often you pop in for a watch chat etc. If they hardly ever see you, then you won't be in their thoughts unfortunately. It shouldn't be that way, but it is in my experience.

Obviously, they have to look after clients that spend and maybe buy jewellery etc. The area my AD is, has lots of wealthy clients (PL footballers etc). They do however, share the love with your normal, average Joe like me. I'v got an excellent relationship with mine. I never hound them. I just pop in for coffee, watch chat and laugh every month or so.

I've been lucky. I've had the No date 41mm Sub, Batgirl and the green 41mm OP all within a 12 month period. I did buy 2 Tudors and a 41mm DJ in the previous 18 months.

The guy at the AD that I deal with just loves watches. He has a varied collection, as do I. That's why we get on so well.

As long as you're genuine and they see your love for watches, then you'll be looked after in my experience. I'm aware however, that not all AD's are the same unfortunately.

AD relationship is a huge part of the formula albeit the least quantifiable. When I got the call my AD told me there were others ahead of me  with larger purchase histories but he called me first. Dunno if it was true or him just making me feel special

I think it's definitely the case mate. You probably were special, as he could tell you were genuinely interested in the piece for the right reasons.

The extra leg work is exactly as you put it my fellow watch friend! The extra leg work is the difference!

I'm currently debating whether to put my name "on the list" for an Explorer...the only Rolex I'd spend my own money on.  Or spend the money on a similarly priced piece (likely a Grand Seiko).

That said, I'd gladly spend someone else's money to get a platinum Day-Date.  Can I get a volunteer?  😜

I say go for it and get your name put on the list as it doesn’t commit you to purchasing it and if you end up buying a GS you’ll still be happy either way

So after my email last night I got an email back to say I’m on the list for 3 Rolex’!

email back “what 3?”

Phone call back immediately from Goldsmiths Datejust blue, a discontinued Air King and OP Black and apparantly I have 2 accounts with them.

I have never expressed an interest in a Datejust as I don’t like them, my choice of AK would be 1970/80’s as like the smaller size and I was asked to previously narrow down my choice on a Black and a Blue and plumped for Blue.

I‘m not sure I trust them to sell me a Seiko currentl.

Get on the list I may not bother if my choice ever turns up.

Hi, I've been on a list for nine months - Feb. to Nov. '19 - for a Sea Dweller 126600 no buying history.

I was on the list for 1yr before I got the call for this model

Waited 227 days for a Yacht-Master 40 with a blue dial. Zero follow-ups with AD after I visited them back in the Spring of 2023 and no purchase history with AD or Rolex (my first Rollie). Somehow Santa's elves decided to make one for me. 🥰🎅🎄🎁
