Selling watches question

I was trying to unload 2-3 watches to make room perhaps selling them to some websites. Two sites declined as there's a "pause" in buying watches. Anyone else experienced this?

Should I try ebay? I've never sold watches before. Thanks.

Down market, dealers are sitting on inventory they can’t move, which is great for buyers, bad for sellers.

If you have something, try the forums, or better yet Reddit’s Watchexchange page. Otherwise, eBay works if you don’t mind fees.

If it isn’t a Rolex, Patek, AP or that caliber you aren’t going to be able to sell them to a grey market dealer unless you want pennies on the dollar.

If it is not an expensive watch, Reddit is an option. Just make sure to sell to buyers with a good track record.

Ebay. Fees suck, but for the most part it's reliable, and you will actually sell items.

Don't do luxury, YMMV.

I started collecting Soviet watches and I must have about 40. The issue is that I don't want 40 x $40 sales = $1600 less fees + the time and effort it takes for 40 transactions.

My solution, in freeing up watches, is to give away watches to kids.

I give them modern watches because I want them to have a good experience and something that will last.
